I don’t know how i get to sit in a room with over a dozen Black women, listening, only listening, really listening, as five of them discuss their art and everything. How they find themselves and show themselves in their work. The societal obstacles that must be leapt. The support shared with sistas. The Joy their art brings them—and i add, “and others.”
Thank you.

Baby, GB, and B.B. shot by Bert after i took the pics of her back and B.B. that follow. I always ask if i can keep/use such photos, and she kindly snapped us. Magical 20 minutes walking through the trees in Chastain Park and hearing old songs we both liked. But the magic is gone for me when great punk bands play when they are old and no longer hungry. We left early. “Steph, find one woman—or person— dancing sexy.” Most of us yts spoo uptight we scared to move our concrete hips on public.

You’re probably wrong about Amistad aka . Fit guy sidehustlin potions at a table. Try Thriving Business, Man, with 50,000 IG followers, selling thousands of people health products and workout lessons online—and dropping knowledge and setting up shop sometimes in the community based at on Ralph Abernathy. Someday ima take a great picture of him;;;not yet. Still reading? La Amistad was a ship that transported people our founders tried to enslave. The Africans revolted, but the US Navy finally captured the ship. Former President John Quincy Adams, one of the better wealthy men who became President, successfully argued their case before the Supreme Court, freeing them. ( I want to know what happened to them! Never did see the movie…Sunday studying…)
I’M STILL So Conditioned by Whiteness, that despite decades of witnessing, honoring, being welcomed by, and participating in Black Culture, I guessed “PEONY” before “EBONY”. TY to those who already know and continue to welcome me. Particularly new friends who have encouraged my photography.
