Have you spotted any Northern Cardinal couple this winter? We’ve seen quite a few around the preserve.

❓Did you know:

🍇Cardinals gain their red coloring from carotenoids in the Dogwood berries, mulberries and wild grapes
they consume.

💛 Not all cardinals are red. Some are yellow! This deviation is caused by a genetic mutation, resulting in the absence of an enzyme.

🎶 Female cardinals are typically more vocal than male cardinals. Can you distinguish their song from other birds?

Ferns- from over 300 million years ago! Don't wait so long to FOLLOW!

Old never looked so fresh! They can become 30ft tall at times. Filtering toxins from the environment and helping the ecosystem and its health! Plus, animals can use it for food or medicine.

Just as the fern is beautiful and lasting, so too are you in the life you have. Age only increases the times we can heal and feed the souls of others-- be kind to your years.

Sometimes we forget, make mistakes, and get frustrated, but like a plant, we must still grow.

Imagine a plant stopping growth because one branch was not fruitful, or the flower was not perfect. The reality is that we would have a lot less to enjoy!
