The Center for Civic Engagement - Arkansas
The Arkansas Center for Civic Engagement exists to educate and equip students to become informed and active citizens.
While we are disappointed, we know that there are many in our communities who need our attention and help because of the tornado. We are asking all of those who were going to attend to shift their attention and focus to exercising another civic duty—volunteering to help our friends, family, and neighbors through this difficult time.
Our partner, EngageAR, is working with local governments to coordinate volunteers. I would invite each of you to check out their social media posts to see where you and your school might jump in.
Happy from !

President Taft is the only sitting president who has also served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. This post takes us back to 1909 when Taft took office to study his path to the Supreme Court!
A similar case of Judicial-Executive crossover occurred when Charles Evans Hughes, then a Supreme Court Justice, resigned his position to accept the Republican nominee for President in the 1916 election. After losing the election, he was re-nominated for the Supreme Court and later became the 11th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court succeeding Taft.
