Yesterday, we had the honor of making a clothing donation to the Veterans Donation Network!

Around 1-2 years ago, we held a fundraiser/product drive at our high school but werenā€™t able to collect the products during quarantine. We recently got the chance to pick up those items and donate them to a great organization!

Check out the Veterans Donation Network based in Atlanta if youā€™d also like to plan your own drive!

Endometriosis is a serious condition that affects a lot of people with uteruses.

Many people use birth control to prevent or decrease endometriosis pain, which is why decreased access to contraceptives harms a lot of people.

Asian women are not your s*xual fantasy.

The fetishization of Asian women has been ongoing for centuries, and as a result, on March 16th, 8 lives were taken.

Ever since the 19th century, white men have viewed asian women as exotic, submissive, and docile, forming this stereotypical image that is not only misogynistic, but racist as well.

Asian women are not to be killed when youā€™re having a ā€œbad dayā€.

Asian women do not exist to be your ā€œtemptationā€.

Here is what we wished we learned in our s*x ed curriculum PART TWO!

Consent. Consent. Consent.

S*x education needs to talk about the importance of communication between partners, and how both sides have a right to say no, even if they initially said yes.

Not only does safe s*x include consent, but it includes contraceptives as well.

The curriculum just tells us to stay celibate, causing a lot of s*xually active teens to engage in s*xual activity with no knowledge about how to stay safe.

Condoms are available to any age, but other methods of contraceptives may vary depending on the state in which you live in.

Do your research and stay safe!

Here is what we wished we learned in s*x ed (the class) part 1!

S*x education mainly focuses on 2 things: celibacy and condoms. It rarely discusses other birth control methods, and doesnā€™t encourage students to have safe s*x. Rather, it mainly shames them into not talking about or participating in s*xual actions.

However, conversation is important.

S*x education needs to be more inclusive and allow students of the LGBTQIA+ community to understand what their options are, and how they should stay safe rather than feel shameful.

šŸ‡®šŸ‡³ On our trip around the world, the next country weā€™re covering is India!

šŸ©ø Period stigma affects their culture as menstruation is considered impure, originating from myths in the Vedas.

šŸƒ For 64% percent of the menstruators, using materials such as leafs, rags, ashes, husks and mud are their only option as they donā€™t have access to menstrual products.

šŸ—£ This is why it is important to start talking about periods, no matter where you are. Menstruation is not dirty.

After we recently posted a question sticker on our story, we got a lot of responses about peopleā€™s personal period pains (try saying that 10 times fast).

A common misconception is that if someone has period pains, thereā€™s something wrong with them or their uterus/va**na is ā€œdirtyā€.

Many menstruators are worried about sharing their concerns about their period pains because they feel that theyā€™ll be gaslighted and told that they are overreacting.

Part of erasing the period stigma is talking about period pains and supporting one another.

No, you are not overreacting.
Yes, you are valid.

šŸŒ As weā€™ve discussed period stigma in the United States, weā€™ve decided to research and share more diverse period cultures around the world!

šŸ‡¹šŸ‡æ First up: Tanzania.

šŸ©ø The period stigma in Tanzania is more severe than most areas in the United States as young menstruators are not allowed to speak about their periods, sometimes even being considered going against tribal beliefs.

šŸŒ½In areas where period products are not available, they use torn up bed sheets, raw cotton, or even maize cobs.

šŸ—£ This is why it is important to start talking about periods, no matter where you are.

The next historical women weā€™re talking about isā€¦ IRENA SENDLER!

When the N***s invaded Poland, she used her role as the Senior Admin at the Warsaw Social Welfare Department to provide food, clothing, and safety for Jewish children.

As she gave them fake Christian names to get to safety, she kept their real identities (names, addresses, family members) hidden in buried jars.

After the war, she dug up the jars and reunited the remaining family members.

Soā€¦ recently we posted an IG reel about being scared to try tampons, and it got over 800K views!

It made us wonder why menstruators are scared of them in the first place! Donā€™t get us wrong, we definitely understand (i still havenā€™t used one), but we just wanted to break it down.

The fear surrounding tampons stems from three things:

STIGMA surrounding va**nal health discourages people from talking about what goes in it.

MISCONCEPTIONS that trick people into thinking a tampon ā€œtakes their virginityā€ discourages people from using them at a young age.

S*X ED classes that revolve around celibacy rather than actual health indirectly shame menstruators about talking about their va**na.

It doesnā€™t matter which product you use - tampons, pads, diva cups, period underwear, reusable padsā€¦

You do you, boo.

Virginity. A social construct that perpetuates harmful ideas, such as heteronormativity or the idea of ā€œinnocenceā€.

Because virginity is a way to describe whether oneā€™s had s*xual in*******se, it does not take into account non-heteros*xual couples, completely disregarding and invalidating the LGBTQIA+ community and their s*xual endeavors.

Describing a ā€˜virginā€™ as ā€œinnocentā€ encourages the idea that having s*x is somehow sinful or is a process of losing innocence/purity.

It shouldnā€™t be that way! S*x is a completely normal experience that billions of people go through.

By associating it with a loss of purity, it engulfs the entire concept in a cloud of shame.

Itā€™s time to talk about it. Itā€™s time to talk taboo.

Slut shaming is an issue that has affected women across the world - affecting their confidence, their outfits, and their behavior in fear of being deemed a ā€œslutā€.

If you have ā€œtoo much s*x,ā€ youā€™re considered a slut.
If you donā€™t have s*x, youā€™re considered a prude.

Either way, society is quick to judge women about their s*xual life, but sometimes praise men for increasing their body count.
