In honor of our 20 year anniversary I’m sharing some throw back pictures of 2004. We have grown so much and learned so much. Most importantly we have formed beautiful relationships with our customers and the farmers. A big thank you! To many more years of business.

Chocolate anyone? This is what farming cacao beans looks like. We harvested, washed, dried, and then roasted these cacao beans to make fresh, amazing tasting chocolate milk all at Selva Negra.

It was a real treat just being present today at Selva Negra at the farm. The workday was over and everyone was enjoying downtime. Some folks were playing a casual game of baseball, others kicked a ball around, some juggled a soccer ball, and we were just chatting with other adults enjoying the beautiful weather. Good day.

On the lower elevation section of the coffee farm we grow cocoa side-by-side with coffee trees. It leaves me craving a mocha! A cocoa pod produces enough to make about a pound of chocolate.

I got a nice close up of the yellow Catuai. It’s a gorgeous yellow color. Centrally located on the farm at about 4,500 ft in elevation.

This picture shows the different coffee varietals at Selva Negra in Nicaragua. I took it while walking the farm roads along the rainforest. Here we have a Caturra (red) next to a yellow Catuai. Its bright contrast caught my attention.

Back in the USA, we unload a coffee container with the help of our son’s lacrosse team. These are some strong teenagers unloading 250 bags of coffee. Each bag weighs 150 pounds.

From the balcony of the office you get a view of the wet mill. Also, some drying green houses where the pulp natural coffee is dried. It’s a beautiful day at Selva Negra, but we are eager for rain as the coffee needs it to mature for the next round of picking.

I am at the family coffee farm for the holidays in Nicaragua. This is a back view of my parent’s home. Bavarian in style. Its backyard court is the wet mill where we wash the Selva Negra coffee.

Today is JavaVino's 19th anniversary! I found some throwback pictures of our first year in business. What a great feeling to have this dream turned into reality. Our 19 years in business have been incredible. We couldn't be more grateful! Reflecting on the past 19 years, we are proud of the farm-to-retail customer connection we have fostered. We treasure the many trips to our coffee farm, Selva Negra, in Nicaragua with staff, friends, and customers. We love teaching customers about coffee and telling our unique story of preserving this precious bean from seed to your coffee cup. We appreciate our loyal customers for your continued support and loyalty. We especially thank our fantastic employees for their hard work and commitment.

We bought a new coffee warehouse in Stone Mountain, GA. Right in the magnificent downtown. We’ll be roasting in the area likely by 2023! We are expanding.
