Futurus
Futurus is a future technologies company specializing in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) development.
We work with brands to create one-of-a-kind, immersive experiences that enable product visualization, enhance marketing strategies, and amplify stories and narratives. In addition to providing development services, our team facilitates technological discovery and implementation via consulting for companies interested in applying innovative technology within their business. Futurus is a woman-owned, Atlanta-based business.
In 2020, Futurus launched a game studio division called Amebous Labs. It was a great way to work towards something together during a challenging time for all of us. We published our first game, Loam Sandbox, in 2022 under the experimental App Lab section of the Quest Store. We've used this game to experiment and create something unique, and today, as Meta merges App Lab games into the full store, we're celebrating. We're doing a live stream showcasing the wonderful land of Loam! Tune in at 4PM EST today to watch and till the land with us. Happy gardening!
If you want to play along with us you can find Loam here: https://buff.ly/3WB2sPK
Another exciting mocap session with the team in the books! We were thrilled to try out Move.ai's upgraded capture system. We pulled out all the stops to get some action shots for a virtual reality safety training simulation. We love the fact that we can capture these sessions with everyday camera equipment and easily output animations for our 3D artists.

We were blown away when we recently experienced HaptX's haptic gloves in person! The tactile and force feedback on the gloves when manipulating small objects allowed us to feel the resistance and delicate movement in our fingers and hands. Our favorite sensation was the gentle feeling of rain on our palms and the pitter-patter of a tiny fox jumping back and forth between our open hands. This experience is definitely something that needs to be "felt" to be believed!
Thanks Northside Tool Rental for helping us on our research mission! It’s incredibly important to feel what we’re simulating in the physical world. We appreciate your subject matter expertise!

Last Saturday, Annie and Madeleine shared the intersection of creative arts and technology at a Women in Technology (WIT) Girls event, hosted at Emory University's The Hatchery Center for Innovation. The future of our industry is looking bright!

We're back from another fantastic year at CES! Innovation was on display with a new crop of headsets that bring Virtual and Mixed Reality to the forefront, haptics with cutting edge ferro-fluid technology, and seamless Augmented Reality experiences and games that bring the world to life. We can't wait to get our hands on these technologies in the year to come!
CES is back! Here's a fun selection of technology we saw last year. What sort of new tech are you keeping an eye for this year?
As we reflect on 2023, the team at Futurus was able to explore a variety of new and exciting headsets. Each one brought something unique and innovative to the growing wearables space, and each year, we've witnessed the technology continuing to improve upon itself. We appreciate that many headsets have found their niche, whether in consumer gaming or corporate training, mixed reality or straight virtual and augmented reality. And with more headsets expected to be released next year (including the long-anticipated Apple Vision Pro) we can't possibly imagine the breakthroughs we'll witness by the end of 2024, and we can't wait to try.
It's been 60 days since the Meta Quest 3 launch. Have you had a chance to try it out yet? If you have, what are your thoughts? If you haven't, what's holding you back?
Tutorials for virtual reality encompass more than just what occurs inside the headset. Sometimes it's necessary to break out the recording equipment and demonstrate how to utilize the hardware from an external perspective. When needed, we provide additional tutorial content utilizing a combination of "outside the headset" footage and screen recordings from within the headset.
