[Why we do what we do!]

'Years ago I came across a very revealing story recounted by Gordon Dalby. He told of a nun who worked in a men’s prison. One year she brought some Mother’s Day cards to distribute to any prisoners who were interested in sending cards to their moms. Word spread, and requests for cards began pouring in.

The demand was so great that she reached out to Hallmark to see if they’d be willing to donate extra boxes of cards. That first year the warden drew numbers from a lottery to determine which inmates would receive the limited number of Mother’s Day cards.

With Father’s Day quickly approaching, the nun got to work securing sufficient boxes of Father’s Day cards, and the warden announced a free giveaway to all who were interested in sending a Father’s Day card.

Not a single prisoner asked for one.'

Yeah let that one sink in for a minute...
Staggering. And very telling...

God doesn't live inside of time so he is equipped to prepare you for the 'what's next' long before you get there. He's always there, waiting, right around the corner. Waiting for you to trust, waiting for you to move, waiting for you to except the destiny he has for you. He's got The whole world In His hand so he certainly has you!

'Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me.'.
Psalms 139:7‭

Start walking, stop fearing and embrace the life he planned for you before the foundations of the Earth!

It doesn't take faith to see the dream... it takes faith to walk it. ☝️🔥

Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed. So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking.'

Confession and repentance are not the same thing.

According to James 5:16 confession may produce healing, but what it does not always produce is life change. It certainly makes us feel good and is often a necessary part of the journey, but ultimately only godly sorrow produces a repentance that leads to salvation (2 Cor 7.10).

Sorrow about what?: The direction I've been going in.

Repentance is all about changing that direction and receiving the new life that Christ has for me, not just an admission of our guilt. Stop doing what you are doing and start doing something new. As the Author of the story says 'Go and sin no more. '

The takeaway?:
Confession will get you healed, Repentance will get you whole.

A message from Jenn:

As women, we are caught up in the workings of the world. At times, we are so busy we forget that we need to make time to sit at the feet of Jesus and just be. It is in these times that we are refilled and replenished, and ready to return to a world that has us constantly going and going.

I can’t express how needed it is right now, in the midst of our busyness, for us women to come together and fellowship with one another. This is a weekend to restore our intimacy with God, in spite of the workings of the world that constantly call us away.

In Luke 10, Jesus tells Martha that “Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Mary and Martha were both given the option to sit at His feet and have that intimacy with Him or to be busy and do. Mary chose the better thing.

The Body or the Building?
You can guage the connection level of a Church body during the week, by observing what level of connection they have on a Sunday morning. Are the gifts of every believer being valued? Is there an increased level of intamacy evident when they do meet? Is the DAILY breaking of bread, and meeting in the 'temple' happening?

WE are the body of Christ. WE are God's temple. So let's build each other up DURING the week in such a way that's it's evident to all those present on a Sunday morning that we've been in the presence of the Lord, and each other, together, every chance we've had... It shows...

I don't think God wants us living life as though we are hanging on to the end of some rope just waiting for Jesus to return and save us before we lose our grip Eagerly anticipate his return? Sure... living in a frantic state with the only hope being an 'off the planet' rescue? Maybe not as much.

No, the offer was life and life to the full. Both NOW and in the Life to come. That we would reflect His glory in all we do. For Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost and was lost was His original intentions.... Us united to him and chosen to intricately play a part in his creation...

'Out of the ground God formed every beast and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would name them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.'
Genesis 2:19

Oh we were created for so much more. But we've settled, for just a Sunday morning service. We're in the world but not of it but we live as though we are enslaved to it.

Let's see what Jesus has to say about it:

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me that they all may be one, as You and I Father, are one... And the glory which You gave Me I have given them that they may be made perfect in one. This is how the world will know that You have sent Me."
John 17

Phew, say what?? Read THAT again...To be made 'perfect in one' so that as we collectively reflect His image, we would show the world that Jesus was indeed from the Father.. Wow, c'mon Jesus... Firstborn of the brethren. This God who became a man who became a slave who became a King. - Phil 2.7

Let the fullness of the Gospel have its way in you and be established here on Earth waiting for the day of your redemption but embracing the day at hand. We've got work to do...

As the song says, everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die. Why?...because we kind of like this place.

The Bible talks about new heavens and a new EARTH. And that in the new creation of whatever comes next, we will have a part to play with of him..

What will the new world or worlds will be like?... The Bible certainly gives us a glimpse, but perhaps they will be a home not much different from our current Minus all the brokenness, sorrow, and longing of course...

The kingdom will have fully.come! In the meantime it lives in US. And that is what we truly long for...

Not just heaven but a reunion, a fellowship...beauty untamed.

Our Ashes to Flames WAH Whitewater Retreat in Ocoee Tennessee is officially booked for May 12th - 15th! Look for registration opening up next week on our website.
