he said the way I switched the track during his verse reminded him of how he rocked stages with Big Daddy Kane back in the day.

I loved listening to him at noon on Hot 97 before they started handcuffing him & limiting what he could play.

loved the fact that he was able to come back to commercial radio in his city (with no issue) to continue doing what he was internationally known and respected for as well as holding down a NIGHTLY show on Rock The Bells.

this would’ve been perfect to do yesterday since it was but today is when it happened in real time soooooo on this very day eight years ago I was reprimanded for playing THESE EXACT RECORDS on the air during a CLASSIC ATLANTA HIPHOP set i was known throughout the city for doing every other Friday at noon at V103. imagine you, a DJ who’s been here permanently since 85 with an encyclopedic musical memory of damn near EVERYTHING that EVER popped off from Atlanta as well as a DJ who was an integral (and still IS 😉) part of Atlanta’s radio, DJ & nightlife culture being told by someone who never came around these parts until 2005, that these exact records by and Backbone that you see listed were not good records to play in the mix. imagine that. you, the guy who cut his teeth honing these here skills in ALL the popping clubs y’all ever heard of that everybody talks about when mentioning who vividly remembers all the responses these specific records would get when DJ’s like myself .j.nabs played them on the radio, the parties, the strip clubs, and the mixtapes. you couldn’t escape these records. so. I got limited participation in this when it happened back then, and I understand and is totally at peace with why. but now in this era, it seems that *talking is acceptable* so ahem let’s try this again. anyone can participate but extra points if those who were actively making noise throughout the city in the trenches (radio, clubs, mixtapes) participants with me during this era of clubs like Kaya, Flava, Chili Pepper, Esso, Frozen Paradise, Club XS, Motions, Graffiti’s, The Gate, 559, The Bounce, The Atrium, Shyran’s Showcase, The Phoenix/Warehouse, Old E & Fried Chicken, Atlantis, Golden Glide, Jellibeans, etcetera. provide your favorite memories of these specific records. dassit. don’t go off topic. this should be interesting. popcorn ready. by the way I’m getting ready to play some CLASSIC ATLANTA plus some other dope ass s**t on my twitch channel at noonEST shawty. see you soon.
