Rail Against the Danger
Today's my birthday. My fundraiser this year is in honor and memory of my friend Nanette and her son Corey. https://www.facebook.com/donate/269735492362106/
Nanette's vision since I met her in 2020 (less than two years after her son died from a preventable accident on a college campus) has been to save other families from getting the phone call that their family got. "Your son has been in a terrible accident." Six hours later he was gone. The COREY Safety Act asks a simple question: Why aren't we reporting accidents on our college campuses that result in injury or death? Nanette passed away in April and we fight on in her honor and memory. And her dear son Corey's. Can you help?
Rachael's First Week is spilling the tea about move-in day at your residence hall. Rail Against the Danger is featured, talking about safety rails!

You might be wondering who/what is COREY? Please watch this video from his mother's heart and it will be crystal clear what we are fighting for with the COREY Safety Act. She lost her son in 2018 and she died 5 years later fighting for other people's children. My dear friend, Nanette Hausman https://youtu.be/a7IOSy0omJQ
No one plans to roll out of bed and fracture their skull. But it happens. More than you know. Please sleep safe. Get a safety rail. It could prevent serious injury and maybe even safe your life.
Use Safety Rails on Your Bunk Bed - Rail Against The Danger Many college kids are injured each year because of not having safety rails. Clark Jacobs, studying at Georgia Institute of Technology was one of them.
As you add all of your comfy covers, mattress pads, and fluffy comforters to your bed, don't forget to leave room for your safety rail! The Consumer Product Safety Commission standard states that you need 5 inches from the top of the bedding to the top of the safety rail to be fully effective. Sleep safe!
Bunk Bed Accidents Account for 71,000 ER Visits Each Year An advocacy group founded by a Georgia Tech student who suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling from a top bunk is urging college campuses to require bed rails.
