Here are a few reasons why relying solely on SPF in makeup may not effectively protect against skin cancer:

1. Insufficient Coverage: Most people do not apply makeup in the same thickness or uniformity as sunscreen. Therefore, the actual SPF protection provided by makeup may be significantly lower than what is stated on the label.

2. Incomplete Protection: Makeup is often applied selectively to certain areas of the face, leaving other areas exposed to the sun. This incomplete coverage increases the risk of sun damage and skin cancer in those unprotected areas.

3. Reapplication Challenges: For SPF to remain effective, it needs to be reapplied regularly, especially after sweating, swimming, or wiping the face. However, makeup can make reapplication difficult, as it may disrupt the makeup itself or require removing and reapplying layers of makeup.

4. Inadequate Broad-Spectrum Protection: Many makeup products with SPF only offer protection against UVB radiation, which primarily causes sunburn.
