Cuatro de Mayo rules.
Cinco de Mayo drools.
(Note well: This email is pretty much identical to the one we sent a couple of days ago. Sorry, we just want to make sure the word gets out)
Have you heard the news that Cinco de Mayo is lame, and that all the cool kids are celebrating Cuatro de Mayo this year? It's true! Among the reasons are the fact that Cinco de Mayo lands on a Sunday this year, and people would rather be festive on Saturdays. Also Cinco de Mayo happens to coincide this year with not only Orthodox Easter (Pascha) but also Holocaust Remembrance Day and World Laughter Day. (I mean, really: the people who decide these things need to get on the same page and figure out the vibe.) As a result, we got on the horn with the people from The International Firefighters Day, Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day, and they said they had plenty of room for us the day before and the vibes were jolly, so they invited us to join them on May the 4th. Obviously we couldn't call it Cinco de Mayo on May 4, so Cuatro de Mayo was born!
And anyway, we are closed on Sundays.
We will have give-aways at all 4 locations throughout the day, and don't miss the mariachi band at our Krog Street / Beltline location from 2-4!
See you tomorrow!
At all locations, if you order 3 tacos, you will get a 4th taco of your choice for free!
Have you heard about our new location in Villa Rica?! It is awesome.

Hey! Would you like to unsubscribe from these dreadful emails?
Do you get these emails from us and you don't know why? Or do you get them because you lived in Atlanta 3 years ago, but now you live in Argentina and they are no longer as relevant as they once were? Well, we can't fully tell you why you get these emails, but it's probably like this: One day, you bought something from a company that uses a point of sale (POS) platform called Square. Maybe it was Bell Street, but maybe it was some other place. Lots of companies use it. Anyway, at some point, it asked you for your email address, maybe so you could get a receipt emailed to you or something like that. In doing so, your email became part of Square's database of email addresses, so now when you use the credit card that is associated with your email in their system, they add that email address to the database of contacts that the shop you used the card for can access for marketing emails like the one you are reading now. Companies like ours can send out marketing emails to people who shared their email address to Square, but importantly, we have no access to the email addresses themselves. Therefore we know this is being sent out to people who have bought something from Bell Street before, though it is only people who have, at some point, also shared their email address to the Square database. Because it is not a list that we maintain nor even have access to, it is not the simplest matter for us to remove people from the list. But if these emails are no longer relevant to you, you are very welcome to click the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of this (or any similar) email. Please don't reply to this message asking how we got your address and to remove you. The unsubscribe button is very simple and will do the trick!

Grand Opening of Our Newest Location!
Doubtless some of you have heard whispers of this already, but the newest location of Bell Street Burritos is now open! We are thrilled to be in Villa Rica, GA (about 35 minutes west of downtown Atlanta) after years of requests for a location in West Georgia!
After a "soft opening" period for the past week or so, we are pleased to announce that our grand opening is tomorrow. The official ribbon cutting will occur at 11 am and there will be give-aways throughout the day. Please join us!
We are very pleased with the way this location has turned out- from the chamfered ceiling built with heartpine beadboard, reclaimed from a 120 year old farmhouse in South Georgia, to hand-painted window logos, to our trademark tile mosaic, handmade by Bell Street founder, Matt Hinton, this Bell Street has both new design elements as well as the tried and true features that remind you that you are at Bell Street. And of course it is the same great menu as all the other locations. Come pay us a visit and you will feel at home, either in our dining room or on the front patio, covered by a monumental awning. We are 2 minutes off of I-20 (next to popular billiards hall, Stix), so whether Villa Rica is your destination or you need to grab a bite on your way to Birmingham (or Pell City, for that matter), we have you covered!
Here are some pictures from our soft opening, which wasn't soft at all:

We Have Some Fantastic News:
As you likely know from yesterday’s message (it may be worth pausing here to read the email we sent you yesterday right now, if you missed it, else the rest of this might be confusing), we were recently forced by the City of Atlanta to change the name of Bell Street Burritos to Leonard Tate Street Burtitttos”. (We know. We thought the same thing!). Well, almost certainly as a result of the outcry from our loyal customers, we managed to reach a compromise with the City: It was brought to our attention that only most of Bell Street was renamed “Leonard Tate Street. “ This leaves around 100 yards of Bell Street remaining. We are being told that, as long as we emphasize that we are named after that part of the street, we should not run afoul of the existing ordinance, such as it is. Therefore, we are happy to reveal our new logo:
We think you'll agree that this is a perfect mix of our classic logo, combined with a new bit of draconian governmental oversight. We think it's great. This victory seems ultimately to be the result of two things: first, the massive support of the Bell Street Burritos community, and second, due to the fact that yesterday was April 1. The City is telling us that it was all some April Fool’s gag perpetrated by us. We can’t be sure of this without thoroughly examining their claim, and certainly feel that they might have mentioned this during the lengthy trial this past year. The attorneys for the City have responded to this critique by issuing a communique which asserts, in part, that, in fact, there was no lengthy trial and that we “made that part up too, for some reason.” Obviously, we can’t be sure of this without an independent inquiry, which we have formally requested by whistling into a brown paper sack. Until we get the results of this inquiry, anything is possible. In the meantime, we wanted you to be the first to see our new logo with the required language which the city of Atlanta also asserts is another bit of fabricated April Fools nonsense. They further claim that they asserted no such thing and that we are just talking to ourselves at this point. But who can be certain, in this day and age?
WELL, WHAT YOU CAN BE
CERTAIN OF IS THIS:
Follow us on social media, and this Thursday, APRIL 4 (NATIONAL BURRITO DAY), show us proof that you are following us, and you will receive $5 off any burrito we sell. Even the smoked pork and brisket? Yes, even the smoked pork and brisket!! No joke.

Bad News Turned to Good News
First of all, we send our warmest Easter Greetings. Easter gives us an opportunity to reflect on what appears to be bad news and the ways it can become very good news, indeed. In the words of Joseph to his brothers: "And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good." (Genesis 50:20)
It is in this spirit that we announce what we thought at first was bad news, but we are learning to see the positives in it. As many of you know, the name "Bell Street Burritos" came from our first location at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market located at the corner of Edgewood Ave and (you guessed it) Bell Street. As fewer of you may know, this past year, the City of Atlanta chose to honor the late community activist Leonard Tate by changing the name of Bell Street to "Leonard Tate Street." As a result, the City of Atlanta is requiring that we change the name of Bell Street Burritos to "Leonard Tate Street Burritos." As much as we admire the late Mr Tate, we initially felt that the name didn't have quite the same ring to it, and we argued as much in court toward the end of this past year. The court ultimately found in favor of the City of Atlanta, and therefore, we are required to have the name changed by August 22. As you might imagine, after almost 15 years of building our brand, this was quite a disappointment, but we have always found a way forward through all kinds of setbacks, whether it be COVID, a sinkhole or a governmentally-forced draconian name change.
Therefore, wishing to get ahead of the coming deadline, over the coming months we will be unveiling our new branding, and have become excited about the new possibilities. We hope you will be too. Because time is short, we finally have given in to the pressures to use A.I. in brand development, because everyone else is. We believe you will agree with us that the new brand concepts that the A.I. is generating are incredible. We have a shortlist of logos that we have arrived at, and we are so excited about them that we can't wait to share the top ten options with you. Tell us which you like best!
So, the A.I. started in a bit more of a whimsical direction, and not in a bad way at all. It is still struggling, as you see, with the finer points of spelling, but as its ideas progress and through machine learning is it begins to learn our style, we feel that it is getting closer and closer to what we feel we have always truly been. We hope you are as pumped as we are: about Leornard Tate Street Burritos and the future.

It Will Take More Than a Massive Sinkhole to Bring Us Down.
To everyone else that didn't try to destroy our restaurant on Peachtree last week, shutting us down for much of the week and snarling traffic, this message is not for you. It is for our enemies. Feel free to skip this one.
To those of you who are remaining, you are obviously our enemies, so the rest of this is going to be strongly worded:
First of all, whatever bomb you tried to drop on us, you totally missed, so joke's on you. It was a direct hit on our neighbor, Sufi's, front sign. You can't even get that right. And anyways, Sufi's rules. Have you been there before? Amazing Persian cuisine. But what do you care? If you are our enemy, you are probably their enemy as well. (An enemy of great food, more like it.) So, no, you did not destroy our building-- lucky for you, cause then we would be seriously displeased. But on the other hand, you did manage to shut us, Sufi's and R Thomas down for much of last week, on account of the road being destroyed, the parking lot we all share being shut down, and our water getting shut off, so we lost thousands of dollars of revenue. Bravo, smartguy. But guess what? If you come after Bell Street, you'd better finish the job.
When we strike back, we show no mercy.
Accordingly, we are calling DefCon 1. You are on notice.
Or maybe it really was a massive water main leak like the City of Atlanta said.
If so, disregard the above post.
Either way, we lost a ton of business last week. We need both friends and foes to come grab some food from your friendly neighborhood Bell Street Burritos!
Wanna see some wild pictures?
Come see us at 1816 Peachtree Street Atlanta GA 30309

We Understand That
There is a Football Game
Furthermore, we are given to believe that it is the kind of football game that is televised and that people watch this game, even when they aren't generally excited about football. This does not apply to us, because here at Bell Street Burritos, we are pumped about all football games. But back to this game tomorrow. It is our belief that friends and neighbors will be gathering to watch the game and eat food tomorrow. This is where we come into it. If you see where this is going, you can just skip ahead to the part where you come over to Bell Street today and snag a big bag of chips to go with the pints of cheese dip, salsa and quacamole that you are going to purchase from us. For the rest of you: these gatherings often involve food, see? And who among us wants to make all the food from scratch? No one among us, that's who. So, we at Bell Street sell food, including the very kinds of food that people from the televised football gatherings go in for, such as pints of cheese dip, salsa and quacamole, which a person could eat spoonfuls of, if so inclined, but the more conventional method involves chips, which we also sell. Here's the thing: We are only open Monday-Saturday, so if you are going to make the right decision, you need to head on over today.
See you soon!

Happy 5th Day of Christmas
As some of you have heard, tomorrow is New Years Eve. Plus, it's a Sunday so it will be doubly impossible to score food from Bell Street tomorrow. But we are open today, and you are going to be gathering with friends tomorrow evening, so here's what you are gonna do: Get a bunch of chips and salsa (did you know we sell salsa by the pint?) and cheese dip and guacamole. Then you can take them to the aforementioned gathering. Here's what I did recently. I went to a party and brought chips and salsa from Bell Street. And then I asked the host if they would mind very much if I were to put some chips in their oven. They said fine, and I poured out a bunch on a pan and set it to 200º for maybe 5-10 minutes. It was excellent (they are 3.5 times better warm than room temperature). Ultimately, the chips and salsa had to go on their own area away from the other food cause everyone wanted to be near it. Because it was the best. Guess what I left the party with? Nothing-- it had all been consumed. Other people-- who I will not name here-- left with half the food they brought, and their shame was palpable. Now, wouldn't you like to leave your party with nothing? I know what you're thinking, but it's fine, because you're going to get some extra salsa for your own refrigerator!
By the way, you don't want to show up to the party without a gift for the hosts, and what could be more suitable than a Bell Street Burritos T-Shirt or hoodie or gift card? Nothing, that's what!
We look forward to seeing you today!

So, Christmas is Monday.
That means there is no better time to begin shopping for Christmas gifts than today. And there is no better place to shop for Christmas gifts than Bell Street Burritos. Not only do we have the very finest Bell Street t-shirts, hoodies and gift cards on the planet, but you can snag a burrito while you are at any of our locations. It's a win-win.
So, last year, when we had some Bell Street shirts screenprinted, Carlos said "they are always black or gray! How about some color, next time?" So, in honor of Carlos, we've got some color for you (as well as the sad, drab lack of color that is our calling card, really).
Come grab a few today!

Now would be a good time to begin shopping. Click here for an update from BELL STREET BURRITOS!
But also, we are your one stop
shop for Christmas gifts.
First, the mistake: The last time you received one of these emails from us we claimed in our "Holiday Hours" that we will be open on New Years Eve. Now, this would be true if New Year's Eve did not land on a Sunday, but it does land on a Sunday this year, and everyone knows that Bell Street is closed on Sundays-- even when that Sunday is New Years Eve.
TL;DR: We previously claimed that we are open on NYE, but we aren't.
We all make mistakes every so often. But you know what would definitely not be a mistake? Coming to Bell Street this week to snag some Christmas presents for the most beloved of those on your list, of course! Who among us, after all, would not feel anything other than completely disrobed without a Bell Street shirt or hoodie? No one among us, that's who! (or possibly everyone among us-- we are still sorting out the grammar in that last question). Furthermore, we have all heard of a "gift that keeps on giving." What could be a more apt description of a Bell Street Burritos gift card? And as it happens, we have Bell Street gift cards available for purchase!
There is a sense in which all that was first sad in this email (something to do with a mistake, and a very minor one, now that we think of it) has become transformed into gladness with the tidings of such glorious gift-giving opportunities.
That's not all, even. Check it out: The only place to purchase the aforementioned gifts (other than on the blackmarket and some extremely shady neighborhoods in Ty Ty, Georgia) is Bell Street Burritos. And what else can you get at Bell Street? Burritos. And Tacos. And Quesadillas. And Mulitas. The list goes on, but here's the point: When you go to get presents from Bell Street you can get a little something for yourself, if you know what I mean. At the bottom of this email is a coupon to give you a head start.
TL;DR- you should buy shirts, hoodies, and gift cards at Bell Street as Christmas gifts. And some food while you are there.
But first some pictures of Bell Street merch, starting with some of the new entries to the Bell Street merchandise catalog this year:
