The intervertebral discs of your spine lack a defined blood supply. They get their nutrition through what's called inbibition -- this is the movement of nutrients and fluids into your cells and body parts in the absence of a defined blood supply. Inbibition requires adequate movement. Disc herniation, degenerative disc disease, and nerve pain are all common symptoms of inadequate inbibition. Movement is life.

Surgery to fix your knee, hip, back, etc. is sometimes totally essential, but it typically fails to address the conditions that led to the problem in the first place. Those restrictions, compensations, imbalances, habits, etc. are still there. If surgery gets you out of pain and moving again, that's fantastic, but now the real work needs to begin to prevent future injury.
it’s always exciting to meet new clients and be a part of their healing journey. everyone deserves to have that new sense of freedom and enjoy their athletic leisures 🤗
yikes. the same treatment for everyone....
We talk about this at every single class!!!
No matter what, if you are seeing the same therapist for months on end for the same condition-it’s time for a new therapist-and this goes for RAPID too!
The ultimate goal for every clinical therapist should be to successfully discharge your client.

Prioritize recovery, so you can live more comfortably in your body.
You think bodywork is expensive? Try surgery, prescriptions, co-pays, deductibles, missed work, chronic pain and decreased quality of life. You've got one body. Do right by it.
A harsh quote indeed but holds a lot of truth for many therapists.
You know…your menu? Where clients can select “deep tissue, relaxation, hot stone or add cupping or tape?
Or worse yet when they come in and tell YOU to do their back neck, shoulders and feet and you do it-for 60 minutes, oh wait they want 90-no problem! 😳
If I’m a Chiro or a physio, I decide the treatment plan-yet for most massage therapists their client’s decide. YIKES! 😳😳😳
I get it maybe you do lymphatic drainage and reflexology too, BUT shouldn’t you use what you need out of your toolbox based on the client’s presentation v.s. what THEY want? Why do they decide and not you-the person with the expertise???
One of our goals with RAPID is to put the “therapist” back into massage and use our education to its fullest by treating our clients with our expertise and not as they dictate, desire or demand. We believe this is how it should be and that we would be taken far more seriously as a profession if we did.
What are your thoughts?

Ever had an injury where the pain never fully went away? Still some residual swelling? Often after a trauma, the lymphatic system becomes restricted around the injury and reroutes the fluid in a less efficient pathway. This faulty flow can be mapped by hand and restored.
A great infographic for your clients to better help them understand their pain. 👍🏻
Are you a hacker?
How well you can hack into the nervous system will equate to the success of your treatment. If you are not considering the role of the nervous system in your treatment you are missing the biggest piece of the therapeutic puzzle.
YOU are not relaxing tissue, YOU are not releasing adhesions, YOU are not increasing range of motion. The nervous system is doing it for you.
The better and more effective your communication with the nervous system the better your therapeutic outcomes will be.

nice breakdown as to why it’s more beneficial to allow your body to stop inflammation on its own! ice isn’t necessary.

To Ice Or Not To Ice An Injury? Applying ice to injuries used to be a no brainer. New research proves maybe we were wrong. Find out the truth and why, backed by science.
do you experience hip pain or hip discomfort?
it’s very common for clients to throw around the word that they have sciatic pain, but look at how close our deep hip flexors are to each other.
typically i find different trigger points corresponding to your deep hip flexors. very rarely it’s only your piriformis & sciatic nerve being triggered by itself.
in my eyes true sciatic pain is when it runs all the way down into the leg and to the toes. the surrounding sciatic nerve may be irritated from over use, or simply compressed throughout the nerve and may be “glued” too tightly onto your muscle fibers in certain areas.
a neuromuscular therapy session not only includes working the hip to eliminate this discomfort but as well as working the entire hamstring and calf.
this would include working all of these muscles:
-adductors
-iliopsoas
-semimembranosus
-semitendinosus
-bicep femoris
-gastrocnemius
-soleus
-fibularis
all of our muscles work together so it’s important to include the surrounding areas that help alleviate pain. otherwise just working where the pain is referred may not get you results or long term relief.
