BEC🌟 Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: Scholarship Distribution Update! 🌟
We are thrilled to share an exciting update from Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi! With the generous support of Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF) and our dedicated local donors, we have been able to continue our mission of empowering bright students from underprivileged backgrounds.
For last three decades, we have been conducting an annual exercise to identify deserving students who aspire to pursue professional level courses in colleges, universities, and polytechnics. Through a rigorous selection process, we ensure that scholarships are awarded to those who truly need and deserve them.
This year, our team worked tirelessly to screen applications, conduct interviews, and communicate with students. We are delighted to announce that during the last weekend (16-17 March 2024), our team visited five different centers to distribute scholarship cheques to deserving recipients.
Here's a breakdown of the statistics:
• Amritsar Centre: 427 scholarships distributed
• Chandigarh Centre (Fatehgarh Sahib): 246 scholarships distributed
• Faridkot Centre: 204 scholarships distributed
• Ludhiana Centre: 267 scholarships distributed
• Delhi Center: 43 scholarships distributed
In total, 1187 scholarship cheques were handed over to bright students, amounting to a staggering Rs. 3 crores distributed so far! Additionally, another Rs. 1 crore is currently under process, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting education and empowerment.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to SHDF, our local donors, and everyone who has contributed to making this initiative a success. Special thanks to our dedicated team members who have diligently processed applications and ensured the smooth ex*****on of this program.
Together, we are truly making a difference in the lives of these young individuals, empowering them to become self-reliant leaders of tomorrow. Let's continue to support and uplift each other as we strive for a brighter, more inclusive future!

🌟 Today was a heartwarming experience as we hosted the students, teachers, and parents of Jaspal Kaur Public School at Nishkam! 🏫✨

Under their community outreach program, the delegation explored our medical center, library, computer center, and more. They even got a glimpse of our rooftop solar power setup! ☀️

Our Managing Committee members shared insights into our 40-year journey and ongoing projects, leaving the visitors inspired. 🌍

The generosity of Jaspal Kaur Public School knows no bounds as they gifted 125 notebooks and pens for our students. 📚✏️

But the most impactful moment was when students shared their philanthropic experiences and we encouraged them to spread the word about our scholarships and financial assistance programs. 💡

Let's keep the spirit of giving alive by staying connected and volunteering for noble causes together! 🤝

On 11 Feb. though it was the last day of the visit, our Sikligar beneficiaries embarked on an eye-opening field visit to the historical gurudwaras across Delhi, immersing themselves in a rich heritage of culture and tradition. Guided by the spirit of inclusivity, they learned about the various practices and rituals observed in the Gurudwaras. They visited Gurudwara Nanak Piao, Sis Ganj, Moti Bagh, Majnu ka Tilla, Sri Bala Sahib, Gurdwara Mata Sundri and Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh. From the serene atmosphere to the rhythmic gurbani echoing through the halls, every aspect was a celebration of unity in diversity. In the end, they moved to the Train station for their next travel to their hometowns. This journey was not just a usual excursion and many felt emotional with gratitude for the week-long life experience arranged by Nishkam.

On 10 Feb. our Sikligar beneficiaries after the darshan of Bangla Sahib Gurdwara gathered up in a sacred space of Gurdwara Sahib at Vikaspuri, Delhi and recited Kirtan early in the morning. It wasn't a sight one sees every day as the sangat was introduced by the members that our Sikligar brethren came from South India on a visit for change and how Nishkam has been playing a pivotal role in transforming the downtrodden community. After the holy session, the delegation visited Nishkam Bhawan where Nishkam members welcomed them and further addressed them. The mementoes of Siropa and shields as a token of respect were given to each one. The day ended in the spiritual ambience of Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib.

9 Feb: With the ongoing field trip, our Sikligar beneficiaries' on 9 February started their journey towards Delhi and in the middle of their journey offered langar from one of our dedicated Sewadars S. Lakhwinder Singh at Ludhiana junction. Everyone praised the effort. The Punjab visit was an enriching experience designed to foster cultural awareness and understanding. The trip aimed to introduce the young learners to the different types of religious places, their practices, heritage and the significance of the specific Gurudwara they visited.

On our educational journey to Chandigarh, Punjab and Delhi our Sikligar beneficiaries' got the opportunity to visit the splendid Golden Temple at Amritsar. There they witnessed the immense devotion of people from different religious groups towards the Almighty. They experience the serene and spiritual ambience of the place despite huge crowds and long queues. Later they visited Gurudwara Sri Goindwal Sahib and Gurdwara Khadoor Sahib as well. They also visited Nishan-E-Sikhi -Charitable Trust at Khadoor Sahib where their management welcomed them and addressed the spirit of sewa and their organization's welfare. They visited the famous Jallianwala Bagh as well. (8 Feb.)

On 7, Feb. the delegation of Sikligar students and their guardians under the guidance of S. Lakhwinder Singh, Nishkam member had the golden chance to visit and pay homage to historical Gurdwaras near Amritsar and Tarn Taran area as a part of the historical and educational excursion. The students and their guardians were enlightened about the glorious past and they enjoyed the divine langar as well. Special thanks to the local gurdwara committees for providing the infrastructure and transportation facilities.

Nishkam believes in the power of education and is committed to training its beneficiary students to make them employment-ready. A tour of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College at Ludhiana has been organized as an ongoing activity for Sikligar students on 6 Feb 2024. They got hands-on experience using various machines, workshops and lab visits. Students also gained the practical implementation of science in agricultural technologies. Nishkam strives to bridge that gap through various trainings and field visits. Later they visited Gurudwara Sri Manji Sahib Alamgir Ludhiana

Visit For Change- Exposure for Sikligar Students
13 Sikligar Students and their families based in Karnataka and Maharashtra supported by Nishkam, visited Alert Labs and Sufi IT start-up (both IT companies) in Chandigarh on 5 Feb. 2024. Expert speakers shared valuable insights on work, management and more. Students gained hands-on experience and learned about the possibilities for professional advancement. All 13 students are pursuing professional courses; some just passed secondary-level school studies and want to enrol in polytechnics. All these students are beneficiaries' of Nishkam. They also visited the Gurdwaras and felt delighted in learning and adding knowledge. (5 Feb.)

They are now impoverished people who also face social discrimination in India based on their “low caste”.
