Gerontology has wonderful students - Chanel Reid received the Outstanding Graduate student award this year!
Gerontology student Chanel Reid researches how social isolation, loneliness and elevated su***de risks (SILES) can impact the older adults. Her work in the field earned her the Dean’s Graduate Research Grant, the Gerontology Alumni Endowed Scholarship Award & the Harold V. & Anna Marie Little Scholarship in Gerontology Award!
"I want to thank the GSU Gerontology Institute, the facility, and classmates for the honor of a global education," said Reid. "My world has been forever touched by inspiration, their life journeys, and the honor of their presence during my graduate program."
Reid plans to continue her work to ensure that older adults have the resources to combat social isolation, loneliness, depression, and su***de desire, and to minimize the harmful impacts. Kudos Chanel!
