Mr. Tran reached out for help regarding community cats in his neighborhood.
We discussed everything he needed to know about trapping the cats and all things TNR related.
Thanks to his efforts these 6 cats made it to be fixed, tipped and vaccinated. No more babies. They are now all part of a managed colony - they have food, water, winter shelters.
More often than not - we don't hear from citizens once their colony is complete. Mr. Tran emailed us once again - this time he offered HIS assistance and would like to Volunteer for us ππ.
We always welcome Volunteers - to trap, to transport, to pickup supplies, to deliver supplies to colonies & caretakers. If you are in Clayton County and would like to help - please email [email protected].

Winter feeding tips from our friends at Friends of Feral Felines πΎπΎπΎ.
--------
Winter Community Cat Feeding Tip ...
Cats need extra calories in the winter to keep extra fat layers on their bodies to keep them warmer in the winter.
Feeding adult food mixed with some kitten food (which has more calories than adult food) is a good option in the winter months.
β οΈ Mix small amounts of kitten food gradually so the cats' tummies don't get upset.
π©It is only necessary to feed more calories during the colder months.
Adopt Responsibly πΎπΎ
- Community Cats are the largest source of cat overpopulation in the United States and those who end up at Animal Control facilities (aka open intake shelters) make up a large percentage of cats euthanized throughout the country every year.
- Pet euthanasia rates are at a 3 year high
- The total number of cats and dogs coming into shelters is up 7.6% compared to 2021, while the number of animals leaving shelters has only increased 4.6%.
- Of the cats entering shelters, approximately 37% are adopted, 41% are euthanized, and less than 5% of cats who came in as strays are returned to their owners.
If these statistics don't open your eyes we don't know what will.
PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS
PLEASE TNR COMMUNITY CATS
PLEASE DO BETTER - WE CAN AND SHOULD ALL DO BETTER

With the cold weather upon us we are receiving a lot of questions about feeding and watering community cats.
Here are some tips:
Raise the bowls above the ground
Spray insulating foam under the bowls
You can use SnuggleSafe heatpads and handwarmers under food and water bowls
Use deep plastic bowls
Thank you for helping community cats ππΎπ.

Education is a big part of Frida's Foundation. We are currently working at a trailer park. Educating the residents on how not to feed directly on the floor, that feeding and fixing go hand in hand, how to keep the outdoor cats safe and warm.
We have donated 10 cases of canned food, 2 winter houses, dry food, bowls. We will trap and fix the unaltered cats.

Our program serves low-income families by providing life-saving strategies to keep the human-animal family together.
When we heard Mr. Williams could use food for his 20 year old geriatric πΆπΆ and his 7 mth old Pug we knew we had to help.

Central to Frida's mission is educating the community about spay/neuter of companion animals and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) of community cats.
Our mission is to reduce the cycle of animals born on the streets to fend for themselves and those brought to animal control facilities. Using proven strategies to reduce shelter intake, our program has already made a significant impact in our target areas as we work to sustain a no-kill community.

Frida's provides low-cost and free spay/neuter for community cats for qualified families and caretakers.
Research shows that most people would prefer to control the cat population through humane, non-lethal means than by killing healthy animals. Many communities, including ours, are seeing dramatic drops in cat intake and euthanasia at their local shelters as a result of TNR and other spay/neuter programs.

Did you know of the cats entering shelters, approximately 37% are adopted and a staggering 41% are euthanized πππ?
So what can we as a community do?
The answer is right in front of us.
Once we understand the role community cats play in shelter intake and euthanasia, we can begin to solve the problem. And we donβt have to wait decades to do it.
Please and Thank You πππ
We have a cold front coming through with temps dropping to the 20s. Remember if it's too cold for you, it's too cold for them.
Please be kind to Community Cats and other outdoor Animals πΎπΎ.

This group of 5 black panthers surely got the message that it's Black Friday πββ¬πββ¬πββ¬.
As much as we wish that every cat that crosses our path could be placed in a home - we know that is not possible.
These cats are not domesticated. They were born outdoors. They live outdoors in colonies. They have a feeder and are kept warm through the cold weather.
The best and most humane thing we can do for them is fix and vaccinate them so no more are born in the outdoors.
