Temporary People Who Taught You Permanent Lessons - Tiny Buddha 05/13/2023

Temporary People Who Taught You Permanent Lessons - Tiny Buddha "The older you get, the more you realize some relationships end because they are temporary people who taught you permanent lessons. It's crazy how peaceful life becomes when you start learning, healing, and raising the bar on who has access to your body, heart, and soul."

Word for the Day - April 24, 2023 - Grateful.org Our brokenness is also the source of our common humanity, the basis for our shared search for comfort, meaning, and healing. Our shared vulnerability and imperfection nurtures and sustains our capacity for compassion.

Walk Slowly
by Danna Faulds

It only takes a reminder to breathe,
a moment to be still, and just like that,
something in me settles, softens, makes
space for imperfection. The harsh voice
of judgment drops to a whisper and I
remember again that life isn't a relay
race; that we will all cross the finish
line; that waking up to life is what we
were born for. As many times as I
forget, catch myself charging forward
without even knowing where I'm going,
that many times I can make the choice
to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk
slowly into the mystery.

— WORD FOR THE DAY —

You are loved just for being who you are, just for existing. You don’t have to do anything to earn it… No one can take this love away from you, and it will always be here.

One of the most life-changing realizations you can have is “I don’t have to believe my thoughts…they are just thoughts!” Any story you have about yourself is not the same as the unfolding reality of what you are: the ongoing life of your senses, the tenderness of your heart, the consciousness that right now is seeing or hearing these words.

From Dr. Rick Hanson: 3 Steps to Be Patient

1. Recognize that impatience feels stressful and often leads to trouble with others.

2. See the bigger picture, and know that whatever you’re impatient about is probably just a passing situation and a tiny part of the whole of your life.

3. Focus on what feels good about patience, perhaps a sense of calming, dignity, and centeredness.

DAILY QUESTION - https://bit.ly/daily-question

Until you are able to love and take care of yourself, you cannot be of much help to others.

Thich Nhat Hanh, “Cultivating Compassion”

01/01/2022

Many of us have complicated, and often negative, feelings about ourselves. . . . When we can see ourselves as just another imperfect human, equally deserving of love as anyone else, it becomes easier to offer love to ourselves.

Kevin Griffin, “May All Beings Be Happy”

12/30/2021

No one faces your past for you or makes your choices for you. It is not always easy—but if what we really want is deep understanding, we have to go there, into our own struggle. No one can reveal my heart to myself but myself.

—Sallie Jiko Tisdale, “Alone on the Bodhisattva Path”

Acceptance has a paradox within it. Acceptance of a painful situation as is begins to transform it into something better. Acceptance is not mired in stasis. It’s a loving spaciousness that allows change to root on its own terms and time.

Healing is possible only if we allow ourselves to feel and intimately know our own fears, anger, despair, disappointment, or depression at the deepest level. If this step is possible, something wonderful can happen. Our suffering begins to change into compassion and deep understanding. And then suffering disappears.
