MarRay Foods is a specialty foods/cottage food operation that grew out of my culinary history food blog on Patreon. The baked goods, infused vinegars, spiced nuts, and custom spice blends all feature a modern twist on the ancient recipes I have been sharing with my patrons. Look for the MarRay Foods booth at festivals, arts & craft markets, and the Community Farmers Markets in Decatur every Wednesday, and East Atlanta Village every Thursday from April through November.
MarRay, the blog, represents an exciting new concept in culinary and agricultural history featuring faithful recreations of ancient recipes, scholarly articles, fun facts and historical snippets that go beyond your typical Mediterranean diet blog. As we journey together around the Romans’ mare nostrum, Latin for “our sea”, you will learn about the cuisine, agriculture, shipping/trade routes, commerce, and social mores of the entire Mediterranean Region from pre-Israelite Canaan to the height of the Roman Empire, to the Islamic Golden Age.

About Diane E. Curtis
I hold a B.A. (Hons) in the History of Ideas with a focus on Graeco-Roman Philosophy (military history) and a Master of Theological Studies in World Religions/Islamic Studies, specifically the rise of Islam in its Near Eastern environment. I am also a foodie, personal chef, and farmer’s granddaughter so issues around farming, shipping, and food supply and preparation were always what I chose to study and write about. MarRay gives me the opportunity to combine two great loves. I hope you’ll join me on this journey!
