Midnight blue! How long does a project like this take?

This particular transformation took about 4 hours. In all fairness Eymi does have a ton of hair! However due to previous color, the blue had to be applied twice for full saturation.

Not all vivid colors will take 4 hours, but for every new client, that is the amount of time I plan for. It’s better to have more time in these situations than to be rushed.

It’s a family affair!

Yesterday I got to hang out with the Moore Family. It was so much fun to give the boys a salon experience. I love it when family and friend groups come in for hair appointments together, it’s always a blast!

Check out the shine on this gorgeous copper blend! For my chosen color line I predominately use . True to its name it leaves the hair with incredible shine, softness, and has decent longevity.

Last week Adalinda Lundt gave me a makeover challenge. I think I nailed it! Swipe right to see the before.

We have been doing fashion color on her hair for quite a while now, and she was ready to switch back to a more normal style that would require less upkeep. When doing a corrective color, there are many steps, and the end result is typically not guaranteed. We had to be prepared for a wide range of hair color outcomes.

As always the health of the hair is my main concern when doing a color service. We were not originally planning to go copper, but because the prior purple color lifted out to a blue. It was our best option to cover it up.

If you have highlights, you’ve probably heard of purple shampoo. If you haven’t heard of purple shampoo, it is a key component to keeping blonde or gray hair from turning brassy.

How often purple shampoo should be used varies from person to person, depending on their hair needs. But a good rule of thumb is to start by using purple shampoo every other week.

Short and P***y!

Growing out a short haircut can be a huge challenge. Many give up and cut it all off again. But I'm here to share the secret to successfully growing your hair backout.

Get it cut regularly. WHA? Yes I'm serious! But why cut it if the goal is to grow it? Let me tell you!

1. If the hair isn't cut, it will grow into a mullet - trust me on this one.
2. Split ends break off, so regularly trimmed hair does grow faster.
3. You will feel better about your hair when we grow it into different styles, and thus will be less tempted to cut it off.

11 years ago I began managing a salon in Sumner. I had big dreams of making a difference in the way stylists were treated. I wanted the people working under me to feel like they were an important member of the team as opposed to just another number.

Being the middle man became very difficult! Not being valued by my company, and encouragement from my amazing husband gave me the fuel I needed to leave corporate hair.

The one thing I do really miss about being in management was being a mentor and cheerleader. I would love to help other stylists grow along their path and avoid some of the mistakes that I made in my career.

I’ve been talking about it for a while, but now I’m starting to put together a plan to bring on either an assistant or apprentice. If you know anyone who is either in school or just starting out and you think they would be a great addition to our salon please send them my way!

We are back from vacation and I’ll be back in the salon this week. It was a much needed break from the rat race that is life. We had a great time, and well - we weren’t really ready to come home! lol

Today I’m enjoying these throwback photos of when I was given the honor of doing my sister jasmines hair for her wedding! Updos, especially wedding styles are not my specialty - but we did a practice run prior to the big day and it was a success!

This is still one of the most fun weddings I’ve been to and I’ll always be grateful I got to contribute to such a special moment in her life!
