🚁✨ Ensuring Safety: Landing Zone (LZ) Tips for Emergency Medical Services 🌟🏥
Here are crucial tips to help us ensure a safe Landing Zone (LZ) during scene calls:
🔹 Clear Communication: Coordinate with our team and local authorities to designate a safe and accessible LZ. Clear any obstacles and ensure sufficient space for landing and patient transfer.
🔹 Location Awareness: Choose an LZ away from hazards like power lines, trees, and uneven terrain. Opt for open, level ground whenever possible to facilitate safe helicopter operations.
🔹 Ground Support: Designate ground personnel to guide the helicopter during approach and departure. They play a vital role in ensuring safe maneuvering and clear communication with the pilot.
🔹 Patient and Crew Safety: Maintain a secure perimeter around the LZ to protect patients, crew, and bystanders. Adhere to safety protocols and follow instructions from flight crew for a smooth transfer of patients.
🔹 Community Awareness: Help raise awareness about LZ safety in your community. Educate others about the importance of providing clear access and space for HEMS operations.
