Augusta is expected to receive heavy rainfall within the next 36 hours due to Tropical Storm Dana. While our plants and crops will benefit from the rain, please exercise caution as you plan for the week. Be mindful of navigating low-lying areas and driving in heavy rainfall. Stay safe.
These are the two main high resolution models we look at on a day to day basis. They rarely seem to agree most days, but they're locked in on Debby for the next 36 hours showing very similar rain totals. There will likely be a sharp cut-off in rain totals across the CSRA with some areas seeing less than 1", while others see close to 8". The hardest hit areas look to be Emanuel, Burke, Jenkins, Screven, Allendale, Barnwell, and Bamberg County over the next 36 hours. Stay updated on the forecast!

IF Savannah and Charleston can preserve their historic trees, why can’t Augusta? That’s what elected leaders asked the city staff Tuesday — and didn’t get a clear answer.
Augusta staff is put on the spot over downtown tree teardown Augusta Commission members met at the committee level, taking up several matters — including tree removals that have sparked an uproar.
Great work North Augusta Parks Recreation and Tourism! Excellent addition to our waterfront ❤️🔥😎

🌳 Ring the Alarm! It's a 🌳
Our voices are being heard and the commissioners have acknowledged our concerns about the historic crape myrtle on Telfair Street. But we need to keep the momentum going.
We can't save every tree but we need to save as many as we can--including the historic crape myrtle.
The impact of losing these trees extends beyond aesthetics. For example, when similar tree removal occurred on 5th Street, a small business experienced a dramatic increase in their electric bill, doubling it to $2,000 per month. This highlights the practical and financial consequences of losing our urban canopy.
Take Action Now:
💬 Message your Commissioner Let them know how important it is to save this iconic tree.
Leave a comment, click like, and share!

Man of War has been spotted in our waters. Recognize its blue, balloon-like body and avoid it at all costs. If you see one, steer clear and stay safe!
Man of War has been spotted at Tybee--and if they are at Tybee, it is reasonable to assume they are also on Hilton Head, Dafuskie, and other surrounding beaches.
Identification: If you see a blue, balloon-like creature on the beach or in the water, steer clear. It’s a Man of War, and its sting can be dangerous!
Safety Tips: Stay out of the water if you spot one, and don’t touch them even if they’re on the shore. Their tentacles can still sting!
Emergency Advice: If stung, rinse the area with vinegar or seawater, not fresh water, and seek medical attention immediately.
