WATERVILLE, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Waterville Police announce the arrest of a Waterville man for multiple drug charges and destroying evidence.

Arrested:

Omar Sims Marquez (21) of Waterville, Maine for,

Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs (Fentanyl), Class A

Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs (Co***ne Base) Class B

Falsifying Physical Evidence, Class D

For the past three months, agents from the MDEA South Central District Task Force and officers of the Waterville Police Department have been investigating illegal drug trafficking occurring at 18 Edwards Street in Waterville.

As a result of the investigation agents applied for and were granted a search warrant for 18 Edwards Street in Waterville.

Today at approximately 8:00am, agents and Waterville officers executed the search warrant. Upon entering the home agents encountered and detained Omar Sims Marquez fleeing from a second-floor bathroom. Agents heard the bathroom toilet had been flushed and discovered the toilet to be clogged by several plastic baggies that Marquez attempted to destroy.
The baggies were retrieved, and their contents revealed to be approximately 35 grams of fentanyl and co***ne base (crack co***ne). A further search of the residence resulted in the seizure of additional evidence of illegal drug trafficking and $ 3,600 in suspected drug proceeds.

Marquez, who recently moved to Waterville from Connecticut was staying at the Edwards Street residence. He was arrested and transported to the Kennebec County Jail. Bail was set at
$ 240,000 cash, he is expected to appear in Kennebec Unified Court later this week.

This is an ongoing investigation, and additional arrests are expected.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

SABATTUS, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces the arrest of a Sabattus man for Aggravated Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Trafficking in Co***ne and Violating Bail Conditions.

Arrested:

David Strout 34, of Sabattus for, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Methamphetamine) Class A
Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs (Co***ne) Class B
Violation of Bail Conditions Class D

On April 22, 2024, agents arrested David Strout of 27 Meadow Lane, Sabattus for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs. Strout’s arrest was in relation to a drug trafficking investigation where agents conducted undercover purchases of crack co***ne. Strout was arrested during a search warrant at his 27 Meadow Lane home. Strout was subsequently released on bail.

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at approximately 5:00 am, a second search warrant was executed at Strout’s home at 27 Meadow Lane in Sabattus. The search warrant was in connection with the ongoing drug trafficking investigation of Strout since being released on bail. Agents were assisted by the Maine State Police Tactical Team who secured the residence rendering it safe for agents to conduct a search.

As a result of the search, approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine and co***ne were seized along with other evidence of drug trafficking and approximately $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Strout, who was present at the home was arrested without incident and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail where he will be held without bail pending a court appearance. Strout’s girlfriend and two children were also present at the time of the search warrant. The State’s Department of Health and Human Services was contacted informing them of the presence of minor children.

Assisting agents were representatives from the Maine State Police, Sabattus Police, Topsham Police (K9), Lisbon Police (K9), Androscoggin Sheriff’s Office (K9), Lisbon/Sabattus Animal Control and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

FRYEBURG, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Fryeburg Police announce the arrest of a Bridgton man for Aggravated Trafficking in Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Co***ne and fi****ms related charges.

Arrested:

Kevin L. Thurston 50, of Bridgton, Maine for, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Fentanyl) (Methamphetamine) (Co***ne) Class A

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Class C)

For the past year, officers from the Fryeburg Police Department investigated the illegal distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine from a residence at 107 Portland Street in Fryeburg. Officers began the investigation after receiving tips from the public about the suspicious activity believed to be taking place there.

In the afternoon of Friday, July 26, officers conducted a traffic stop after conducting surveillance of 107 Portland Street. Stopped and subsequently arrested was Kevin L. Thurston of Bridgton. Seized from Thurston at the time of the stop were approximately 80 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine and co***ne. Also seized were assorted prescription pills, a loaded handgun and $3,321.00 in suspected drug proceeds. Thurston was transported to the Oxford County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000 cash.

MDEA agents from the Western District Task force responded to Fryeburg to assist in drafting a search warrant for 107 Portland Street.
Agents secured and executed the search warrant with the assistance of Fryeburg Police and the Maine State Police. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, co***ne and assorted prescription pills and capsules. Also seized were six fi****ms.

The homeowner was not present at the time of the search warrant. Charges related to the seized contraband will be forthcoming. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.

On Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, following an investigation into possible drug trafficking at an Indian Township Residence, four people were arrested for Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl). The Charges were Aggravated due to the residence’s proximity to the Indian Township Community Center which is a designated Safe Zone.

During the investigation, MDEA’s Down East Task Force, assigned to cover Hancock and Washington Counties, working jointly with Investigators from The Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Township Police, conducted controlled purchases of Fentanyl from a residence at 64 U.S. Rt 1 in Indian Township. A search warrant was drafted and granted on Tuesday for the residence.

At approximately 12:40am on Wednesday morning, The Maine State Police Tactical Team executed the search warrant and secured the residence. A total of 6 people were detained. Agents then conducted a search of the residence finding evidence of drug trafficking and use. Also recovered during the search were covert funds used by Agents during the controlled purchases.

A follow up investigation revealed a significant amount of drugs were likely flushed in a toilet by occupants inside the residence during the ex*****on of the search warrant.

Along with Indian Township Police, Bureau of Indian Affairs and The Maine State Police Tactical Team, MDEA was also assisted at the scene by, The Department of Homeland Security, Indian Township Fire Department and the Indian Township Emergency Management Agency.

GRAY, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office announce the arrest of a Gray man for Aggravated Trafficking in Fentanyl and fi****ms related charges.

Arrested:

Peter Petersen 50, of Gray, for Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Fentanyl) Class A

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (Class C)

For the past month, agents from the MDEA Cumberland District Task Force investigated the illegal distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine by Peter Petersen, from his home in Gray. During the investigation agents conducted several undercover purchases of fentanyl from Petersen.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at approximately 2:00 pm, agents and deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Petersen’s home, located at 80 Whitney Road in Gray. Agents located Petersen inside the home where he was arrested without incident and charged with an outstanding arrest warrant charging three counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl).

A search of the home resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 grams each of fentanyl, amphetamine, methamphetamine and three loaded fi****ms, as well as other items indicative of drug trafficking.

Petersen was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where the additional charge of being a prohibited person (felon) in possession of fi****ms was added.

Bail was set on all charges at $30,000 cash

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LEWISTON, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston Police Department announce the arrest of three people for Aggravated Trafficking in Fentanyl and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in Lewiston. During the arrest a significant amount of fentanyl and a firearm was seized.

Arrested:
Dylan Tessier 24, of Lewiston, Maine for, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Fentanyl) Class A

Normand Tessier 63, of Lewiston, Maine for, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) Class A

Tamesha Parker 31, of Lewiston, Maine for, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class D

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at approximately 7:00 am, agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Western District Task Force and officers from the Lewiston Police Department served a search warrant at 229 Blake Street, apartment 1 in Lewiston. The search warrant was the result of a month-long investigation into the illegal distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine from the apartment. Agents and officers located Dylan and Normand Tessier, as well as Parker in the apartment, all were taken into custody without incident. A 9-year-old child was also located in the apartment and was subsequently released to a family member not associated with the Blake Street apartment.

As a result of the search warrant approximately 80 grams of fentanyl packaged for resale, and an AK47 semi-automatic rifle was seized as well as $ 2,500 in suspected drug proceeds.

The approximate street value of the seized fentanyl is $10,000.

Dylan and Normand Tessier and Tamesha Parker were transported to the Androscoggin County Jail. Bail for Dylan and Normand Tessier was set at $25,000 each and Parkers bail was set at $250.

The State’s Department of Health and Human Services was contacted, and a referral was made regarding safety concerns for the 9-year-old child.

Bangor, Maine-

Three people were arrested this afternoon following a search warrant at an apartment located at 54 Charles Street in Bangor.

On June 6, 2024, MDEA agents, assisted by the Bangor Police Department and members of the U.S. DEA executed a search warrant at the Charles Street Apartment. The search warrant was the result of a several-month-long investigation by MDEA’s North Central Task Force which included undercover purchases of fentanyl.

Occupying the apartment and charged with Class A, Aggravated Drug Trafficking offenses were:

1. Shameek Harris – (31) from NY, NY. No Bail

2. Wenona Lola - (52), from Bangor, ME. No Bail

3. Roger Brown - (43) from Bangor, ME. No Bail

Charges on the three suspects were aggravated due to the quantity of drugs seized along with the presence of fi****ms. Both are scheduled to make an initial court appearance June 7, 2024, in Bangor where bail is expected to be set.

Seized during the search of the apartment were over 200 grams of co***ne base (crack), over 140 grams of fentanyl, $11,287.00 in suspected drug proceeds and a loaded .40 caliber handgun. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $45,000.00.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sherman, Maine-

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, following a traffic stop on I-95 in Sherman, a New Hampshire man was arrested and charged with felony drug trafficking offenses.

MDEA’S Aroostook County Task Force received information about a vehicle travelling from Massachusetts to Aroostook County containing illegal narcotics. Agents were able to determine the vehicle was likely being operated by 34-year-old Timothy Pinkham of Somersworth, New Hampshire and that his license to drive was suspended.

With assistance from the Maine State Police, the vehicle was located on I-95 North. Working with Agents, a Maine State Trooper was able to determine Pinkham was indeed the operator of the vehicle. The Trooper then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on I-95 North in Sherman. During the stop Pinkham attempted to dispose of suspected fentanyl. Pinkham was detained and the vehicle was searched by Agents and the Trooper.

During the search over 1300 grams (2.8 pounds) of methamphetamine and over 3.5 grams of fentanyl were located. Also located in the vehicle was a locked container, which Agents later obtained a search warrant for. Located in the container was another 441 grams of methamphetamine, bringing the total amount seized to over 3.8 pounds. The street value of the methamphetamine seized is over $150,000 dollars.

Pinkham was taken to the Aroostook County Jail and charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled W Drugs, 2 Counts of Unlawful Furnishing Schedule W Drugs, 2 Counts of Unlawful Possession of Schedule W Drugs and Operating without a License. Bail was set at $75,000 cash.

Agents were also assisted on the stop by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

LEWISTON, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Lewiston Police announce the arrest of a Massachusetts man for aggravated trafficking fentanyl in Lewiston. During the arrest a significant amount of fentanyl was seized.

Arrested:
Jonathan E. Paige 34, of Boston, Massachusetts for, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Fentanyl) Class A

In response to community complaints of safety issues, drug trafficking and negative quality of life issues throughout the City of Lewiston, MDEA and Lewiston Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began targeted enforcement efforts to these areas of the city over the past several weeks.

On Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024, while conducting a proactive enforcement detail, agents and CRU officers observed what they recognized as an illegal drug deal being conducted by Jonathan E. Paige of Boston, Massachusetts in the 100 block of Sabattus Street. When confronted by police, Paige attempted to run from officers but was quickly taken into custody. Agents seized a bag of suspected drugs that tested positive as fentanyl, that Paige tossed away while running from officers.
Paige was transported to the Androscoggin Jail where bail was set at $10,000 cash.

Over a half pound (310 grams) of fentanyl was seized during this investigation and arrest.

The approximate street value of the seized fentanyl is $30,000.

UPDATE: SECOND PERSON CHARGED IN INVESTIGATION AFTER OVER SEVEN POUNDS OF FENTANYL WAS SEIZED ON MAY 1, 2024

BIDDEFORD, MAINE- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces a second person has been charged related to the investigation and the seizure of over seven (7) pounds of fentanyl in Biddeford on May 1, 2024.

Charged was:

Alyssa Staples 23, of Biddeford for Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, (Fentanyl) Class A
Aggravated enhancement due to total drug weights and firearm possession.

On May 1, 2024, MDEA agents arrested Almuntadhar M. Mohammed for drug trafficking warrants after an eight-month investigation involving Mohammed selling fentanyl to undercover agents in Cumberland and York counties. During a search warrant at Mohammed’s Ray Street, Biddeford apartment, agents seized over 7 pounds of fentanyl, a loaded firearm and other items indicative of drug trafficking.

On May 2, 2024, agents charged Mohammed with an additional 5 counts of Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) related to the seizure of the over seven pounds of fentanyl and firearm from the Ray Street apartment on May 1, 2024.

Based on evidence seized during the May 1st, Ray Street, Biddeford search warrant and fentanyl seizure, agents charged Alyssa Staples with Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl). Staples and Mohammed are in a domestic relationship and live together at the Ray Street apartment.

Staples was charged by summons with an initial appearance court date of July 30, 2024, in York Unified Court.

The investigation is continuing, and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.

S**o, Maine- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces the arrest of a Biddeford man for trafficking fentanyl throughout Southern Maine, and the seizure of more than seven pounds of fentanyl, a loaded handgun and drug proceeds.

Arrested:

Almuntadhar M. Mohammed 24, of Biddeford for Arrest Warrants charging, 2 Counts, Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, (Fentanyl) Class B
Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) Class A

Additionally charged on May 2, 2024, with, 5 counts, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl). Aggravated enhancements due to total drug weights and firearm possession.

For the past eight months, MDEA agents from the Cumberland and York District Task Force’s conducted an investigation into the illegal trafficking of drugs, including fentanyl by Almuntadhar M. Mohammed. The investigation revealed Mohammed purchased large amounts of fentanyl from out of state sources of supply, repackaged the fentanyl into various dose amounts which he sold throughout Cumberland and York Counties. During the investigation, agents made several undercover purchases of fentanyl from Mohammed at various locations throughout Cumberland and York Counties.

On Wednesday afternoon, May 1, 2024, agents from the Cumberland and York District Task Forces and officers of the S**o Police Department arrested Mohammed without incident when he arrived at a S**o business parking lot to deliver fentanyl to an undercover agent. Mohammed was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants for drug trafficking charges related to him selling fentanyl to undercover agents during the investigation.
Mohammed was transported to the York County Jail where he later was bailed for the sum of $7,500.

After Mohammed’s arrest, agents and officers from the Biddeford Police Department executed a search warrant at 21 Ray Street, Biddeford, Mohammed’s apartment.
As a result of the search, over seven pounds (3381 grams) of fentanyl was seized along with a loaded handgun, $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds and items indicative of drug trafficking.

Due to the new evidence seized during the search warrant at Mohammed’s residence, agents were granted additional arrest warrants on Thursday, May 2, 2024, for Mohammed charging him with 5 counts, Unlawful Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl).
Aggravated enhancements due to total drug weights and firearm possession.
Mohammed was arrested by agents in S**o without incident and transported to the York County Jail. Bail was set on the warrants at $100,000.

Assisting in this investigation, arrest and search warrant over the past eight months were officers and agents from the South Portland, Portland, Scarborough, S**o, and Biddeford Police Departments, as well as troopers from the Maine State Police.

The approximate street value of the seized fentanyl is more than $300,000.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
