The past two and half years have been incredibly unpredictable. Death, loss of jobs, and choices that many of us never thought we would have to make consume our memories and current thoughts. Some of us have faced things that would cause trauma or PTSD. I am currently writing a few posts to hopefully help those who have been affected with trauma or PTSD in hopes of helping them heal and move forward in life with joy and perseverance. My last post was about how PTSD affects relationships. This one is more about defining and understanding PTSD.

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. "

This passage says that as you rejoice, petition and pray and show gratitude to God, the peace WILL come! How simple, yet how difficult. Sometimes we have to do the opposite of what we feel get results!

In marriage, we need to learn from the master of connection and relationships, God. He loves us so much and has taught how to love one another.
He says, "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."
If also of us would take these verses literally and live by them, how much more fulfilling and connecting would our relationships be? How much more would we be able to use our marriage's as a witness? Love one another as Christ has loved you!

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who spirit is crushed."
It's a few days until Christmas and I know the past 2 years have been hard on many. Together, as a couple or if you lost your spouse, you can KNOW that God has not abandoned you. His Word says he is close. So, I encourage you to reach out to him and let him be your joy this Christmas.
If you are feeling the joy of Christmas, then spread that joy. The gift of Christmas was the biggest gift of all. We can all be joyful that God's gift is an everlasting gift.
“No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us.” 1 John 4:12
Couples, did you know that loving each other reveals God? We can't love other's unless we know God and His love is made perfect in us. So, let's learn more about God's love and then practice it with each other so God is revealed to the world.
"Do EVERYTHING in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
Everything? In?...Yes, Everything! Yes, In! All that you do! Everything we do should be motivated and inspired by love. That's what "in" means. Not to gain anything. Is this how you engage your spouse?
“Don’t be in debt to anyone, except for the obligation to love each other. Whoever loves another person has fulfilled the Law.” Romans 13:8
Wow, how many of us are breaking this? The opposite seems to be the American way right now. We get in debt, but don't love.
Be Bold in Love! Marriage is about two people selflessly loving one another. Give your spouse a surprise by saying something sweet and thoughtful that you know they would never see coming...
