Although the weather Gods could have been kinder, the Event at Aspen Farm was still fantastic! Many, many thanks to Suzy and Jonathan Elliott, their families, their crew and the many volunteers who make this such a top class Event. We are so very fortunate to have them in our area and that they are so dedicated to our sport.
While our riders had a few bobbles, they also had some big accomplishments and I commend their sportsmanship and determination. This might be one of the few sports that one’s place in the standings isn’t the only measure of success.
Thanks again for a great weekend!! We’re already looking forward to September.
We had the best weekend at the Aspen Derbies last weekend. Many thanks to the Elliotts and their faithful crew for hosting us and running the classes so smoothly. All of our riders did so well! Seeing such huge progress in all was so nice! Please post your videos in comments. Well done Team Talisman!!❤️❤️
A sampling from the cold spell. It’s so nice to have most of the water back on. Draining pipes and hauling water was getting old. But we are so grateful that the power stayed on! And we’ve been able to get the horses out in the arena, although today we had to wait for enough thaw that Malcolm could break the ice with the groomer and scrape the walkway from the barn to arena.
Bennett and Harry are enjoying their arena time during the snow storm! ❄️
We have only a light dusting of snow followed by ice pellets. Luckily the barn stayed 11degrees warmer than outside so we were able to get the water running. So far so good!
Former Eventer Robyn Fisher Pursues A New Passion With An Unlikely Partner - The Chronicle of the Horse While recovering from a broken scapula in 2017, upper-level eventer Robyn Fisher started browsing the internet and, as she tells it, somehow ended up with three horses out of Europe.
Once again the Elliots and their staff and volunteers and sponsors have gone above and beyond to give us a wonderful weekend of sport. From goodie bags for Championship riders to irrigating the rainless ground to super hospitality and beautifully made courses, and perfect weather, ‘who could ask for anything more’?! We are SO grateful!!
Our Talisman Team had some great rides and the teamwork was super. It’s such a pleasure to coach this crew at such nice venues. And thanks to MP for all of the breakfast sandwiches!
Sarah making the best of her time off🤪
Great time at Inavale! Huge thank you to Caroline and Luigi and all of their wonderful volunteers for all of the hard work that went into putting on the event. The place looked fabulous!!!
Congratulations to our Talisman Farm riders! And thanks for the great teamwork and stepping up when a rider needed help. I love our community. And thanks to Debby and MP for looking after the barn and all of the animals!
We had a great weekend at the EI Horse Trials. Huge thanks to everyone at the horse park and all of the volunteers for making such a
pleasant Event! We so appreciate all of the hard work and the beautiful setting!!
So true!!!
Happy Day!
What a great weekend at the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event. Huge congratulations to Tamie for her excellent win!! I never cease to be amazed at the amount of work and planning that goes into producing “The best Weekend All
year “!! The details are mind boggling, from choosing officials to course design by Dereck, to course building by my brother Mick and Levi and Tyson, to organizing hundreds of volunteers, to recruiting sponsors and vendors, to garbage pick up, to printing loads of time and result sheets, to ordering a huge number of signs, to procuring merchandise, to setting miles of roping by Bob and Kay, to the outriders, the photographers, the press, the prizes and prize givers, to the stabling organizing, to printing all the passes and tickets. And much more. I’m in awe of Vanessa and her crew who do so much and of Janie who produced the Event for 26 years. And I feel privileged to be able to help out a tiny bit in the few days before.
There have been many posts about the competition and competitors, but I just wanted to give a huge shout out to everyone who works behind the scenes to make such a great Event!!
We had a fun and productive weekend with our St. Patrick’s Day Dressage and jumping Derbies plus Drill. We’ll done all riders! My video skills are not the best so please post any pics and videos in comments.
Well done Talisman Farm Riders!!! Congratulations to Kayde and Giorgi on their second place finish in Training and to Jaime and Joey and Haley and Patrick for their 7th and 8th place finishes respectively in Novice, and to Ava for her 10th place in BN on her first outing with her new horse Gizmo. A big shout out to Kaylyn for her winning dressage score of 25.6 which unfortunately wasn’t the final
score due to an uncharacteristic spook on cross country which landed she and
Donut in the bushes. Kyleen had her
first outing on Timer who preferred the jumping phases over dressage. Kay and Ned did their best to keep going in the deep footing in dressage but an unfortunate spook ended the cc early.
Huge thank you to owners, Susanna Worthington (Giorgi), Diane Snow (Patrick), and Jane Drummond (Timer) for their generosity with their horses.
I must say what a pleasure it is to work with our group. From teamwork in spreading straw
to helping each other, to helping me when times were close, to cheering each other on, in addition to great sportsmanship displayed, it all adds up to a very rewarding weekend. And
MP was a big help in moving tack and hay and loading, as well as being head cheerleader! And as always, we so appreciate Malcolm’s announcing.
Despite the weather, we had a good time, and
all the horses came home with all of their shoes! I wish I had more pics, so please add some in comments.
We had a great weekend at Inavale despite
the terrible heat! Many, many thanks to Caroline and Luigi and their amazing volunteers for the huge effort that went into hosting us!
Congratulations to our riders, one and all! Kayde and Kaylyn nailed the Training,
Kayde finishing 1st and Kaylyn 4th, both on their dressage scores! So happy for both of you!!!!
And the Teens did super on their 1st and second outings. Haley and Harry were 1st in one division and Ava 5th! And Jaime was 7th and Molly 8th in their division! We’ll done!!!
But the best was the teamwork in cooling
out horses and breaking down camp to beat the traffic going home. As my first Training horse went out on Cross Country, I looked over to make sure the teens were in place at our spot for pit crewing and there they were, cooling off the horse for someone who had just come in and didn’t have help. Someone they didn’t even know! That was a proud moment for me. 🙂❤️
And huge thank yous to Kaylyn, Harry’s owner, and Kriya, his lessor, for giving Haley the opportunity to take him when her horse couldn’t go. He’s such a pro! And what a
way to start Eventing.
And so much gratitude goes to MP for all the cooking, lifting, cleaning, packing, and cheering and to Amanda for being such a great ‘den mother’. And all the parents for pitching in to set up camp and help pack up at the end. Putting up the shade awning was
no small task, but it made such a difference in the heat! Thank you MP and Amanda!!!! And
to everyone who helped break it down. We have the best crew! From bringing food and drinks to helping with loading, thank you all!
But the biggest thanks go to the ones who stayed home and dealt with cooling off the other 30 horses!! Tyler, Kyleen, Ann Marie and everyone else who helped, Thank you!!!!
Here’s to cooler weather!!
Congratulations Talisman Farm riders!! It was a
weekend of highs, along with some disappointments, as well as huge accomplishments. In addition to the successes, the highlight for me was the commeraderie, teamwork, sportsmanship and smiles. I’m fortunate to have such a great group of riders and support crew!!
Good job all!
And huge thank you to the Elliotts and their crew for producing such a class Event!!
Talisman Farm Camp was great last week! Thanks to Kayde for all the help and MP for cooking breakfast and making the gazebo and Malcolm for keeping the track so nice for the galloping lesson. What a great group of juniors we have! And thanks to the parents for all the snacks and meals.
Subjects covered were bandaging, vitals,
Vaulting, massage basics, dressage tests, setting courses, galloping, obstacle courses, and great presentations by the teens on famous horsemen in history! Well done all!!
Congratulations to all riders for your good jumping rounds yesterday at our combined test! And it was great to have such an enthusiastic cheering section! Super day!!!
Please post pics and videos so all can enjoy! And thanks Lee for videoing everyone.!
What a great day we had doing the first day of our in barn combined test. Thanks to Sarah Lorenz for a super job judging! And thanks to the barnies for such great teamwork in taking down the dressage arena and putting up the course for tomorrow. Everyone improved so much from last month in doing their tests....I’m proud of all of you! And
special congratulations to Troy for doing his first Dressage test at the age of 9 and nailing it!🙂
In addition to jumping out on the track this weekend we did our first drill rides of the winter. Well done everyone!
The Halloween Show yesterday was so much fun! Congratulations to all! The freestyles were nothing short of amazing and the costumes were so creative! After Jaime’s bridleless freestyle I don’t think there was a
dry eye in the grandstands. Beautiful!
And the toilet paper jumping......Molly and
Capiro, the winners at 3’9”!!!
I am so fortunate to have such a great group of people in the barn. Oh, and the food !🙂
Many thanks to all of you for such a special day. ❤️
With apologies for being tardy, many thanks to all who helped to put on the Young Rider Benefit Horse Trials. And special thanks to Lynn and Pat Mahoney for making their land available and for timing all day!! The footing is the best!
Congratulations to all of our Talisman riders on a great weekend!!!
Congratulations to Sarah and Dubbs and Kayde and Giorgi for a great week at Rebecca Farm! Sarah finished 6th in Sr Novice and Kayde did the Novice 3-Day, finishing 15th and 2nd in thenAdult rider competition. So great to do the full format....the steeplechase was awesome!
Huge thank you to Sarah Broussard and her wonderful family for hosting such a super Event!!!!! It was so well done. And all of the volunteers and staff did an incredible job. And thanks to Gallops Saddlery and all of the sponsors for your generosity!!!
We’re looking forward to next year!
What happens when the teens crash group jump!🙂
Wow! What a great weekend Talisman Farm had at Inavale!!!
Congratulations all!
Jane and Timer, winning their Novice division on his comeback run!!! Jane and Cellie 2nd in their division! Anne Marie and Sox right behind in 3rd. And Kayde and Giorgi, with a huge improvement in dressage score, 3rd in their division!! Sarah D and Harry finished 2nd in BN with Harry smiling all the way. And Megan still smiling after her sports car round on Ollie ended at the trakehner. But what a great partnership in the making. And Kaylyn and Bennett scoring 22.6, personal best in dressage!! and a flawless SJ round took the sting out of retiring on CC. Thanks to Luigi we were able to have a super school at the end.
Had Dublin’s GPS not failed, he and Sarah were on the way to the ribbons, but Sarah was such a good sport as usual; all smiles and thrilled with how he went nonetheless. And despite trouble in dressage and withdrawing, Diane stayed in the game, helping the others all weekend.
Huge thanks to MP Lugar for his endless help in taking tack and hay to stalls and cooking breakfast and unpacking and packing! And transporting spectators all weekend! What a huge help! And to Ann for grooming for Jane so she could deal with both horses. And to Dads Lee, for videoing and Joe for helping out all weekend. Huge thanks to Susanne for her endless support and Charlotte and McKenzie and Ed for more support and cheering. And so nice to have out teen crew come down to watch and cheer on Saturday.
We have a super group and it’s such a pleasure to spend the weekends coaching at such beautiful venues in perfect weather (so far) with great horses and fun people!
Many thanks to Luigi and Caroline for organizing the event on your beautiful farm!!
I wish I had pictures of everyone!!
Aspen Farm looks absolute beautiful. The footing is perfect! The jumps are beautiful! We are so fortunate to have this Eventing Wonderland in our area. Many, many thanks
To the Elliots and their amazing crew!
And good luck to all riders!
How lucky I am to call these three wonderful guys my own.
Heading to Kentucky for the Land Rover Kentucky 3-Day Event. Have a good week at the barn, everyone.
