A light-hearted storytelling & lecture series where LGBTQIA+ film "professors" explore the movies we all grew up with that helped them realize they were q***r.
Hi, all--
We're unfortunately going to have to postpone Stanley Tucci celebration night at Q***r Film Theory... :(
Fantastic Fest lands squarely on the nights we would be able to host the show, and the Highball will be full of fun weird events that entire time. So we're going to cancel this month's show and save Stanley for another day.
But we will be back with a lot of excitement the following month because it's our favorite time of year again! Join us on October 17th when we host our annual MONSTERS show featuring some of our favorite presenters and some new ones!
See y'all then! Til then: Stay sexy and be good to one another! đ
We had a great time reliving high school last night through the lens of Hollywoodâs impression of what being a teenager is like. Apparently, it involves a lot of singing, alien invasions, and government intervention.
Thanks to everyone who came out to join us and to our brave, beautiful âprofessorsâ who shared special and personal pieces from their own lived experiences. We genuinely learned a LOT last night! Thanks, LEARNING.
See yâall next month when we honor the contributions and beauty that is Stanley Tucci!
Our friends at Reverie Books are hosting the next edition of their Best of Austin award-winning show Q***r to Tell on Friday, August 9th!
This time around, they'll be sharing stories of Pride in all of its colors, shapes and forms. Amazing storytellers, great community, and a great space. What else are you looking for in a Friday night?
See y'all there!
Q***r to Tell August 2024: Tales of Pride Show Date & Theme: Friday, August 9th, Time: TBD @ Reverie Books/Captain Quackâs. Theme: TALES OF PRIDE â Stories about the time you felt immense pride for being Q***r, in your communitâŚ
That was so much fun tonight! Thanks to all of our âprofessorsâ for getting silly with us and making action movies q***r again!
And thanks to The Highball for making us feel right at home. I think weâre gonna like it here.
Join us next month as weâre heading Back to School! See yâall then!
Tonight! We're talking Made for TV Movies!
Meredith Baxter Bernie! Tori Spelling! Disney After School Specials! Does it GET better than this?
Come join the fun at the Barrel o' Fun! Show starts at 7:30pm.
Looking for Storytellers: Q***r to Tell
Hi, everyone! Alerting y'all to a new storytelling opportunity in town with Q***r To Tell for their next show that's happening in Austin on Thursday, May 23rd, in partnership between Captain Quack's Coffeehouse and our friends at Reverie Books!
For this show, they're searching for storytellers to share tales on the theme of "Love is Love is Love." They're not just looking for stories about finding your significant other, Mr. Right Now, or the one that got away, but also finding that special group of friends, the community who saved you, rediscovering and falling in love with your self. Any stories that center and celebrate that magical and special feeling we call love.
If you'd like to submit a story for consideration, please fill out this form ASAP: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfqUbn1sV_DjLVvFBXG612KKXim_Mfivq96yZrsIgF1rVlsPA/viewform
