The Olympic track star with big aspirations Olympic sprinter Gabby Thomas is on a mission to help promote equity in healthcare. The Harvard graduate wants to close the gap in disparities in the American healthcare system and she volunteers at an Austin, Texas healthcare clinic for people with no insurance. NBC News’ Kate Snow reports.

Lots going on at VHC this week!

VHC volunteer and track & field - and Olympian athlete - Gabby Thomas & Mary from Fleet Feet Austin provide New Balance shoes for VHC patients. This was part of a film shoot by NBC Nightly News yesterday highlighting Gabby and her work with the Clinic & our Hypertension Control Project.

Today, Lorna Li from Visual DX came by to demonstrate Visual DX, a dermatology app, for Drs. McHorse & Beach and VHC staff. Through a partnership with CeraVe & NAFC, all VHC volunteer providers will have access to a free license of Visual DX!

VHC was honored to be part of Vaseline's Mended Murals speakers panel at the Black Future House during SXSW, highlighting efforts around skin health equity. Executive Director Marci Roe talked about VHC's services and our Dermatlogy Clinic.

It's always time to 'Amplify VHC' but especially during Amplify Austin, which officially begins on Wed, March 6th.

VHC is excited to announce that we have partnered with for the launch of their new Mended Murals campaign. The initiative was created to shed light on the importance of caring for skin of color and increase access to skin health resources.

Vaseline has partnered with local muralists across the country to restore their murals and generously donated $50,000 to VHC that will help us continue to offer quality health care to the Austin community.

VHC's Board gathers for the last board meeting of the year. As an added bonus, they provided a delicious pot luck lunch for the staff. What a great way to kick off the holidays!

A big shout out & thanks to Kelli, Jill & all the fabulous folks at The ABGB! They hosted our annual 'Tuned to Health' musical benefit and then shared some of the food & drink proceeds with us! We can't wait to do it again next year!

We had a great time at the Draught House celebrating our fabulous volunteers earlier today! Volunteers are the heart of our Clinic and we are thrilled to see the return of our Volunteer Appreciation event!

VHC's 'Healthy Kid's Day' was a great success!

Travis County Medical Alliance & Foundation and our fabulous volunteers & supporters came through in a big way! Tons of school supplies & backpacks were dropped off on Friday for VHC's annual back to school event, held earlier today.

A huge thank you to TCMA, our fabulous volunteers, board and all who donated money or dropped off items for this event or helped package them up!

Special thanks to Amy's Icecreams and our local Firehouse / Engine 12 for making it a fun and even sweeter day!

Lots of happy kids received sports physicals & well child exams and are heading back to school with new backpacks filled with school supplies, thanks to the outpouring of generosity!
