Originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces, and their families. IAW with VFW National By Laws, all newly elected District and Post officers assume their positions after the election of VFW Department officers. That happened today at the TX VFW State Convention. As outgoing Commander of District 28 I relinquished the District Charter to my successor John Jowers and wish him, his service dog Sunny, and our 17 Post great success in the 2024-25 VFW year! :)
The Texas VFW has been instrumental in advocating for and securing state resources for Veterans that augment federal resources for decades, including the creation of the Texas Veterans Commission in 1927.
