We’re back!! We hope everyone had a wonderful summer break and are ready to embrace another amazing school year! We kicked off the morning with our annual Cheers & Tears to pray over our campus and community, then jumped right into all the things the first day entails. There is something so remarkable about having our students and families back on campus. We love seeing our campus come to life. Here’s to a great school year built on prayer, community, and a whole lot of adventure!

Another incredible day of Paideia has us reflecting on the amazing wisdom our guest speakers, Davies Owens and Keith McCurdy, have delivered us. There is such a beauty in seeing our returning and new parent community on campus for our annual connecting and equipping conference. We hope you pray over and ponder some of our discussions and takeaways from breakouts today and come back tomorrow ready to further fill your cup and continue preparing for this quickly approaching new school year.

Our 1st-4th grade students took a journey through time at our History Through the Ages Festival today. This fun event takes students through the captivating time periods they explored in the Friday History/Science Explorers Scholé classes. They participated in a variety of historical activities such as “churning” butter, WW2 soldier (one of our seniors) Q&A, nautical knot tying, and swing dance lessons.

Mrs. Farley’s American Sign Language (ASL) students have been learning about Sign Recognition. Students got to demonstrate this through hand painting what is called “Iconic Signs” or signs that look like what they are. It looks like these students have a great HANDle on the concept!

CALLING ALL VERITAS ALUMNI! We are welcoming all Veritas alumni coming home from college (and those who are still local) to a reception in the Lyceum on WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 from 12-3pm. Pizza and drinks will be provided. We are hoping our former students can come reconnect with classmates and teachers and share updates on what they have been doing since graduating.

05/03/2024

Cake and Commitment Day 2024! Cake and Commitment Day allows our seniors and their families to commemorate the college and career decisions these students have made. We began with a ceremonial signing for our NCAA student athletes Elizabeth Lensing (Soccer, University of Dallas), Philip Cannata (Basketball, University of Dallas), and Joey MacPherson (Soccer, Hendrix College) and ended with a sweet celebration of cupcakes and conversations amongst the students and their families. We cannot wait to see the impact these bright lights will make upon graduating and are delighted at the thought of what awaits them!

Last week, Veritas reinstated the 10th Grade College Visit Trip after three years due to COVID. The purpose of this trip is two-fold: to build community in the grade and to expose students to a variety of colleges and how to visit a university. Thirty-one sophomores explored the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Dallas, and Baylor University. These were chosen so that students could compare a small liberal arts school, a large state university, and a large Christian university. Our students were amazing ambassadors for Veritas through their punctuality, kind manners, and respectful engagement on the tours. Though they still have time left with us, we are so honored to walk with them as they prayerfully consider where the next part of their journey will unfold after graduating.

This is an event you certainly don’t want to miss!

Celebrating National Pi(π) Day after spring break with some of our School of Logic students and teachers! National π Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant. This day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π. Some of our SL math teachers took the time last week to share fascinating insights on how π is woven into the fabric of our world by the divine design of God. From mind-boggling math to delicious pie treats and Pi-themed games, we embraced the infinite wonders of π and were reminded that both π and God’s love are never ending.

First graders in their Seussian way, reciting lines in such a playful display! Dressed as the book’s characters, they steal the show, oh the places they’ll go, don’t we know?

Our first graders closed out their Dr.Seuss unit with presentations for their families and peers yesterday. These Dr. Seuss Day presentations give our Grammar School students the opportunity to build up the foundation of their public speaking skills. The skills they develop in Grammar and Logic schools will be very important as they build toward the capstone Senior Thesis, a 20-minute memorized speech that students present and defend in the spring of their Senior year. We are so proud of our students and the fortitude demonstrated in this project.

A little sneak peek of what some of our School@Home days look like. At Veritas Academy, our unique model has our younger students spend alternate days at home where parents continue the instruction and monitor student progress. Teachers provide parents with detailed lesson plans and instructions for days spent at home to support families. In providing a classical, Christian, collaborative style education, Veritas works to preserve and strengthen the family relationship through increased time together.

February 7th, National Signing Day, marks the first day that high school seniors can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for a collegiate sport that is a part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. We are so proud to announce that one of our very own Defenders did just that today! We held a special gathering to pray over him before he signed the letter, followed by cake and fellowship with peers and staff/faculty.
We cannot wait to see what this journey has in store for him and are praying over him as he takes his light out into the world!

Some of our SR students have traveled back in time to the Scientific Revolution in class this week! Mrs. Fuller’s 10th grade history students began this exercise by creating beautifully outlined one-page overviews on key figures from the Scientific Revolution. The students were then sent on a scavenger hunt to gather information on the various key figures and answer questions specific to other students’ projects. Witnessing our students grow in their workmanship is such special aspect of the education at Veritas.

The Last Day of Giving is already here,
but there’s still time to donate
so please never fear!

This opportunity is a very special way
to make an impact on those
who do so much for Veritas each and every day.

As you prayerfully consider giving,
whatever the reason,
you never know what you are doing
for someone’s Christmas season.

Thank you for loving our teachers so,
the impact of a gift from your family to theirs is one you’ll never fully know.

Merry Christmas!

Congratulations to our Varsity Football players on becoming the 2023 TAPPS State Championship Runner Up. So proud of our Defenders for all of their hard work this season and for making it to State!

We want to extend a big thank you to our community for your support of Emery-Weiner in making prayers cards and for coming out to the game. The passing of the box of prayers was very meaningful and special. Emery-Weiner’s Head of School and student body president accepted them were incredibly appreciative.

It’s been a wonderful season and we can’t wait to see what next one has in store!

Our Veritas Defenders are headed to the State Semi-Finals! “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” - Colossians 3:15–17

Happy Thanksgiving, Veritas! As we spend the day reminiscing on all that God has blessed us with, we want to express our immense gratitude for our community who has made Veritas the incredibly special place that it is. We hope you are enjoying this precious time of food, family, and fellowship before we come back to campus and begin end of semester festivities. 💛🧡❤️

School spirit is alive and well in our School of Logic girls! They donned their matching Veritas spirit wear and spent the morning pouring into our youngest Defenders. These PreSchool students loved the connections that were made and time that was spent with this sweet group of 7th Grade girls during their morning Scholé class.
