This is a free speech victory!
Yesterday, we celebrated the announcement of a $6.4 billion investment in CHIPS-Plus funding for Samsung. The facility will operate at the front of cutting-edge technology, delivering next-generation semiconductor chips.
I'm proud to help Central Texas lead us into the future.
Thanks to Joe Biden and the CHIPS & Science Act, Central Texas is the center of the tech revolution. The investment is delivering thousands of manufacturing jobs, protecting national security, and transforming our economy.
This is what effective government looks like.
University workers deserve a raise!
I was proud to join the Texas State Employees Union in calling for a $10,000 raise for workers at UT.
We must continue fighting for every Texas worker to be treated with respect — and receive the pay, benefits, and retirement they deserve.
If you measure a society by how it treats its children, then Greg Abbott’s Texas is a massive failure.
Instead of supporting the next generation of Texans, we’re forcibly removing their healthcare access.
Texas kids deserve better.
Texas leads the nation in uninsured children at nearly 11% — over *double* the national average. In just the past year, 2 million Texans have lost healthcare access as part of the post-pandemic “unwinding” — and the vast majority are children.
We’re setting our kids up for failure.
Pediatric healthcare access directly correlates with improved educational & employment outcomes and longer, happier lives. By kicking kids off coverage of Medicaid and CHIP, we’re actively harming their future.
Gov. Abbott and Health & Human Services are asleep at the wheel. We’ve kicked off over 1.4 million children from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. This is a failure of leadership — and our kids are hurting because of it.
Happy Eclipse Day 2024 from HD 136!

Higher education is under attack in Texas.
Last session, the Legislature banned diversity, equity, and inclusion at Texas universities.
This week, we learned that 60 UT employees were FIRED due to this ban.
Our state wouldn’t be the same without the success of higher education. Strong public schools and academic freedom are at the heart of the Texas miracle. But Republican extremism is hurting student recruitment, job creation, and the future of our workforce.
Texas has real problems lawmakers need to address. Controlling curriculum, firing staff, and cutting support to first-generation & historically underrepresented students is discriminatory, wrong, and a waste of time. Texas is being derailed by culture war fanatics.
Our colleges and universities should be a place where EVERY student can thrive. Our state's success depends on universities being places that cultivate new ideas and encourage learning. Texas students deserve nothing less.
We must reject these attacks on higher education and support our university faculty, staff, and students. Diversity is one of Texas' greatest assets. We should embrace it — not be afraid of it.

“In spite of the bigotry, the hatred, the obstruction, and the corruption we’ve seen from our state leaders, and from Donald Trump and his enablers, I still have hope for better days ahead.
I still wake up every day dedicated to building a Texas as good as its promise.
I’m excited to give President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris four more years, to replace Ted Cruz with Colin Allred, to re-elect our Sheriff Mike Gleason, to get reinforcements at the state legislature, and to continue our gains in city councils and school boards."
I had a blast at the Williamson County Democratic Convention this weekend. Republicans banned abortion — but we all knew it wouldn’t stop there. Now the “party of freedom” is attacking IVF and your right to build a family.
Enough is enough.
Texans should be able to make their own decisions about when and how to become parents. And they deserve to be supported as parents. From paid family leave and workplace protections to accessible and affordable childcare, Texas should be the state to start and raise your family.
But Texas families are worried about their future. IVF clinics are being forced to close in Alabama — and questions remain as to whether Texas clinics will remain open. Texans deserve clear answers from their leaders.
We can build a Texas as good as its promise for ALL families. That should be the goal — not to control, shame, or stigmatize.
Because that’s the state we deserve.

Last year, over 2 MILLION Texans were kicked off of Medicaid — including 1.4 million children. Our state is in a healthcare crisis of our own making
This is more than just a failure of leadership. This is a moral failure.
Texas leads the nation in uninsured residents by a wide margin. We have double the national average of uninsured children, and many Texans lack access to any form of care. Our state is in a healthcare crisis — and kicking millions more off Medicaid is only making it worse.
When Texans can’t access preventative care — like a primary care physician — they end up in the emergency room. This leads to complications, chronic conditions, and worse healthcare outcomes. This is an unsustainable healthcare model.
Any system that kicks people off Medicaid is morally unjustifiable. But it's also financially irresponsible. When someone visits the ER and can’t afford it, our local taxes go up. And when Texans lack coverage, it causes all of our insurance premiums to rise.
There’s never a moral justification for forcibly ending healthcare access for millions of our neighbors.
This is not only inhumane — it’s also bad for Texas.
