All of my pain is a spider
I've learned not to crush
with the heel of my shoe
but to guide with a page
of my journal
into an empty glass
asking questions about its life,
its purpose, as I walk
careful out to the garden
and rest it down on the earth.
My pain, how happy it is
to leave me whenever
I treat it kind.

The Art of Self-Inquiry:
A 4 day *in-person* immersion in gorgeous Pagosa Spring, CO
Oct 20-23
with and
Embark on an inward journey, mapped through our spiritual, emotional, physical, and biological states of being. What do they tell us about who we are? How can use a deeper understanding of our own makeup to support steadiness in times of change (aka life!) ?ย
An incredible amount of our human existence remains a miraculous mystery. At the same time, much continues to be uncovered about why we are the way we are (and donโt worry, itโs good news!). We love science and we love magic. This course hopes to remind us that magic is very much alive and can, and does, live within reach of our understanding.โจ
Expect to explore through daily yoga asana + meditation, connecting with nature, building earth altars, journaling, ritual, satsang, and joy - because we must not forget to play!!
Weโll also take an optional (but highly recommended) visit to the incredible hot springs nearby.โจ
All are welcome for this 30hr immersion. No prior experience is necessary. Yoga and meditation teachers can use this as 30hrs CE.ย
โจLink in bio to reserve your spot. Questions? Comment below. We canโt wait to study together!

โIt is easier to act my way into right thinking, than it is to think my way into right acting.โ
-authorโฆ unclear
This couldnโt be more true for me. I have spent wayyyy to much time trying to think my way through something andโฆ well, nothing seems to happen๐
If I get my body into some kind of motion then, voila! somethingโs happening.
The motion could be setting my alarm and getting myself out of bed earlier (if the goal is to wake up earlier). The motion could be picking up the phone and calling the person (if the goal is to have a conversation with someone). The motion could be taking time on Sundays to meal prep (if the goal is to be less stressed about whatโs for dinner during the week). The motion could be to lie on my bed and hit play on the guided meditation (if the goal is to get more rest).
You get the idea.
Taking action affects our neural pathways so profoundly. If youโve been here for a while, you know Iโm all about baby steps. Every little tiny action counts. In fact, itโs the tiny things that get us to the profound changes.
If you find yourself caught on the hamster wheel of thoughts, get up offa that thing, and do something :)
ps- who really said this first? anyone know?

What if we treated our body like a sacred temple?
Keeping it clean, decorating it, honoring it, nourishing it, letting it rest?
It took me an actual decade to re-learn how to love my body. I watch my small daughter put on her bathing suit with the ruffles, stand in the mirror and say โooooo yeahโ and she MEANS it. She is absolutely feelinโ herself. I am not sure exactly when I lost my deep appreciation and wonder for this vessel, but over time and with dedication, I have gained much of it back.โจโจIโve been thinking about my altar. A little windowsill in my home set with objects that remind me why my practice is so very important to me. Itโs like my own mini temple. I keep it clean, adorn it with beautiful objects and notes, I notice it with appreciation, give it a refresh when needed. Sometimes I pay a lot of attention to it, sometimes I give it space to be. Iโve been thinking about how this sacred practice can truly be translated into the way we can for ourselves, particularly our bodies.โจโจWhat if we honored our bodies like a sacred temple? This might seem dramatic, romantic of idealistic at first thought. But what if itโs not? What if itโs actually quite simple?โจโจUpon waking, we give ourselves space to connect through meditation, breath, or prayer.
We wash our face, brush out teeth, and dress in something that makes us feel good. We look in the mirror and say โhey baby!โ (Yes this can be a spiritual practice :D)
Throughout the day we listen to the signals from our bodyโฆ do we need rest? Water? Food? Someone to talk to? A walk around the block? And then, we honor that request.
We end the day by giving ourselves space to decompress and get enough rest.โจWe begin our ritual again the next day.โจโจWhat if itโs just that simple?

Just like old times ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ
Part of my ~taking care of me~ practice includes making a point to spend time with good, kind people. My dad always used to say โyou are the company you keepโ! And Iโm happy to be smushed between these two ๐

My cup is filled after a sunny, present weekend with the people I love the most in the world.
Taking a break from the madness and the sadness that is the news and the internet was really good for my heart and my mind. It was a necessary recharge to come back fighting for so many things that need it - especially for my babies.
Donโt forget to give yourself breaks for your own mental health. Itโs important for our collective healing.

The personal is political.
The ripple effect of this decision will create more suffering, plain and simple. Poverty, abuse of all and many kinds, su***de, death.
I hope you are enraged and I hope you turn your fury into action.
If you have the means, please donate to www.abortionfunds.org ๐ค
I was 21 or 22 years old when I had an abortion. I went to Planned Parenthood and felt supported there, even though I was shaken up and sad. I knew it was the right choice.
Looking back now, more than 10 years later, I still know it was the right choice. Everything I have in my life today (including my two children who I have the means to care for well, would have not been possible if I was forced to give birth to a child and then be a single mom (my then partner died of an overdose a little over a year later๐ฏ๏ธ).
I am so grateful I was able to make a choice for my body and my life.
I am absolutely gutted that SO many others will not have access to SAFE abortions, SAFE healthcare, and SAFETY in general, in the way that I did then.
Lokah samastha sukhino bhavantu.
May we continue our fight for autonomy.
Hello from crazy town๐
โTo be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man's-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh. To live is to be willing to die over and over again. โ
โ Pema Chodron
For me this is a reminder that always seems timely. When Iโm thrown out of my nest, and I eventually make my way back to my mat, I am always grateful. May that cycle continue cuzโฆ Iโm livin ๐
