The first complete rifle build I completed in 4th semester at PGS. Built on an AERO SOLUS short action and a Brux barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. MDT ESS chassis and GRND bipod with a Primary Arms GLx 4.5-27x56 scope and a Timney HIT trigger. Griffin Armament paladin break with the Dual-Lock supressor mount system so that when I get a can, it can be quick change between the other builds I have planned.

Every now and then a student comes through with an advanced set of skills and really shows off! We've had many over the years but here's one of the most current projects from Christian!


R&D!

I needed a Cratex rod holder for jeweling bolts and general polishing. The Dremel kits that I initially bought didn't work well when jeweling due the tapered rods that would slowly increase the size of the "jewel". I was searching online and after not finding one I liked, I designed and made my own! This design allows for a solid rod of Cratex to be used while also maintaining low run out for consistent results. The set screw was added to push out the rod when it wears and makes for less wasted Cratex!

"One part of why I am loving is how in a short amount of time, I have learned how transform a firearm so ugly it’s painful to see (in my opinion), into something desirable. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it! Nick just fit his buttpad to his stock using a belt sander to shape it, resulting in a seamless construction.

Today I learned how to repair the rib on my old SxS by doing some soldering before I refinish it. This was a really awesome thing to learn.

It was such a cool and enjoyable experience learning how to take a block of wood and turn it into a rifle stock! I've barely done any woodwork in my life, and I have learned so much about it. Woodworking is something Im enjoying a lot more than I thought!

Here at the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School we become masters at many aspects of gunsmithing. We cannot forget where our modern fi****ms come from though. This beautiful flintlock was built by students in their spare time during their stock making semester. From the metal work, woodwork, engraving and final finish this shows the skills learned while attending PGS.
