The Studio Orchestra and Commercial Music Department had the great honor of having a Zoom meeting with Michael Giacchino on October 16th. Michael is an American musician and composer of music for films, television and video games. He has received numerous awards including an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and three Grammy Awards! Some of his film scores are: Mission:Impossible, Jurassic Park, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just to name a few.

Professor Gasbarro has been a pianist on just about all of Michael's projects for the past 18 years so he moderated the event. Students learned about the development of Michael's interest in music and film and they also had a Q&A session with him. It was an amazing time! Thank you so much Michael for taking the time to speak to our students!

The Music Career Development class would like to welcome Eliza Rickman this Wednesday. Eliza is an American indie singer, songwriter and pianist from Los Angeles, and a former APU alum. She set a record for the most successful music video campaign in Crowdfunding history in 2017. She has released two albums and an EP. Welcome Eliza!

Our very own Aretha Scrugg's (Commercial Voice professor) voice was featured in the background vocals on the “Respect” trailer featuring Jennifer Hudson. The Aretha Franklin biopic will be released on August 13, 2021!
