As we partner with My Friend’s Place and alumni member Chef Shane Tavarez to provide you with this holiday meal, we are reminded of the fact that you have the ability to choose who you bring to the table. This meal highlights the holiday favorites loved by Chef Shane and his late wife, Stephanie, who met at My Friend’s Place.

Throughout the 15 years of love and laughter that the two shared together, food was one of their special shared passions. Putting their own spin on traditional holiday meals, Stephanie always encouraged Shane to take risks in the kitchen. Though Stephanie passed away a year ago, Shane continues to be motivated by her memory, the traditions they created as a family, and his beloved daughter, Kaylee.

In collaboration with My Friend’s Place and Chef Shane, the meals, My Friends Plate and My Friends Holiday Meal, serve as reminders that family can be found along the way and to continue to embrace creativity and passion into your own life.

We will be hosting a free Thanksgiving Day Meal at our Everytable locations on Nov 28 from 11am - 1pm. DM us if you are interested in attending at your local Everytable, as we have limited seating. Enjoy a welcoming meal within your community, especially created for those who are looking for good company on this day.

This holiday season we’re collaborating with a Los Angeles non-profit supporting unhoused young people, and alumni member Chef Shane, to bring you a holiday meal to enjoy alone or with your loved ones.

Inspired by the traditional ingredients and cooking techniques of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, roasted Atlantic salmon is served with an Achiote Citrus vinaigrette, featuring orange and lime juices, garlic, spices, and achiote paste, which gives a signature reddish hue and slightly earthy, peppery flavor. It is accompanied by fried plantains, roasted corn salsa, quinoa, black beans, and pickled onions, with the Achiote Citrus vinaigrette served on the side.
