A truly historic day in Azusa!
The City Council unanimously voted to acquire 18 parcels in Atlantis Garden, currently owned by the County. This part of town has unfortunately been plagued with gang violence and crime for too long. Although the area has seem some relief, more must be done.
I look forward to what creative solutions the city can come forward with for this area.
Let’s keep our Firefighters from 32s in Azusa, in our thoughts and prayers this evening. Engine 32 overturned at around 5:30p today, while responding to an over the side rescue call up the canyon.

Press Release: Azusa Police Drone Assists in Arrest of Burglary Suspect
Incident:
On October 24, 2024 at approximately 6:39pm, officers from the Azusa Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at 100 Blk. E. Ninth St. Upon arrival, they discovered that a rear door had been forcibly kicked in. Officers spotted the female suspect fleeing the scene.
The Azusa Police Department’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS/Drone) was deployed to assist in tracking the suspect. The drone quickly located the suspect on the second-story balcony of a residence at the 800 Blk. N. Dalton Ave., where she was attempting to break into another residence. Officers responded to the location, and with the assistance of L.A. County Fire, a ladder was deployed to safely take the suspect into custody.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had stolen a purse from inside a residence and had broken into a second residence at the 100 Blk. E. Ninth St. by smashing a window.
While this incident was unfolding, Target store personnel reported a female suspect who had committed theft and used a chain to fend off loss prevention efforts, resulting in a minor injury to an associate. Suspect Christin Hill out of Los Angeles was identified as the suspect in this incident as well.
Christin Hill was arrested and faces multiple charges, including 459 PC- Burglary, 664/459PC- Attempted Burglary, and 211 PC- Robbery.
This incident highlights the effective use of drone technology in law enforcement as a first responder, allowing for rapid response. The Azusa Police Department encourages anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Detective Bureau at (626) 812-3200 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

A tragic loss to Los Angeles.
Last year, the Azusa Golden Days celebration had legendary Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela as its Grand Marshall.
He was a very reserved man, despite his super stardom.
Rest in peace, Fernando.
