Journey with us through guided sound meditation as you begin the process of creating your own handmade ceremonial instruments . This is a series of 3 workshops; bellstick rattle, bone rattle, rawhide rattle -( the rawhide needs time to cure so it is actually 2 dates). Materials are included, but you are welcome to bring your own beads, feathers & crystal adornments -

The workshops in our Rattle n’ Bones series are a lovely introduction to natural instrument making, honoring both Eastern and Native Indigenous wisdoms, customs & techniques passed down by our mentors. We will support you in creating and celebrating your rattles, nourish you with acupuncture, sound healing, homemade - organic food, & close our day in ceremony & circle around a bonfire.

Baltimore based artist, Hayes Bowie, creates mixed media works on paper and canvas that use rhythm and contrast as guiding compositional forces. A former art educator of 18 years, evidence of her classroom such as grade books, student spills, and attendance grids now exist objectively as pattern and textures in her work. Playing between the contrasts of highly layered found paper and solid edits with opaque media like spray paint, she blurs the lines between hand created shapes and found media, inviting the viewer closer to decipher the imagery and its origin.
