Meet Ever, a middle schooler who has been working all year on this amazing temperature blanket! There are 154 rows crocheted showing each day's temperature from January 1 to June 2. By the end of the year, there will be 366 rows since this is a leap year! Ever works on his blanket every day, even crocheting during LiveLesson sessions as he listens in class. His bird pal, Sunny, is also always present during class time! When asked why Ever decided to crochet a temperature blanket, he said, "Truth be told, I just wanted an excuse to get more yarn." ๐Ÿงถ

Meet Mulan, the Class of 2024 Valedictorian. She has attended Oklahoma Connections Academy since she was in 1st grade. Not only is she graduating early, but she also has obtained her associate's degree. ๐ŸŽ“

She shared, "Before I became invested with my academics I felt outcasted and there are many things that make me different from other people my age. I have been taking college level courses since I was 13... I worked very hard to be where I am today. I skipped summer, winter, and fall breaks and studied year-round to get ahead. I have been accepted and will be going to The University of Oklahoma in the fall as a Junior. Academics are not my only focus though. I love volunteering and I make sure to give back when I can even as I navigate my school life." ๐Ÿ’œ

"[Oklahoma Connections Academy] has allowed me to thrive much more than any other school has. The main reason I began attending [Oklahoma Connections Academy] is because I have family in Taiwan, and going to visit normally means missed school days and stress for my family and myself. However, being in [Oklahoma Connections Academy] has allowed me to visit my elderly grandparents more than I ever could in public school, and this aspect of what [Oklahoma Connections Academy] has done for me has meant so much to my family and I. The [Oklahoma Connections Academy] faculty are always supportive and accommodating, especially with my college and high school schedules clashing. There's so many things that make [Oklahoma Connections Academy] a great school but the family-like atmosphere really sets it apart from others." ๐Ÿค

Meet Texas Connections Academy senior Sterling M! ๐Ÿ‘‹

According to Sterling, "Connections Academy has greatly impacted my education and has improved opportunities for my future, which I wouldn't have if I attended my local high school. This online environment provided me with access to higher-level honors courses, AP classes, and dual credit, which since I took advantage of, I was able to apply to top-tier colleges with a very competitive application. I will be attending Georgetown University in the Fall of 2024 studying public policy and government. The structure of Connections is very similar to the layout of college and university classes, so I feel prepared to tackle this new change and further impact my future." ๐ŸŽ“

Sterling took advantage of the flexibility our school offers to involve herself in various activities outside of school. "When I am not studying, I teach daily dance and acro classes at Sulphur Springs Centre for Dance to students ages 2-13. I also train daily in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, and contortion acrobatics with my competitive dance team. Every Wednesday morning, I volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center for Meal a Day, a non-profit organization that cooks, packages, and delivers hot meals to homebound seniors in our rural town. Without this program, many people would go hungry because of the lack of food and transportation accessibility in our community. Giving back to the seniors in my community is the highlight of my week. Delivering their meal, visiting with them, as well as helping them with a few tasks is something I love." ๐Ÿฉฐ ๐Ÿ’œ

For Trey M. Inspire Connections Academy has been a game changer. Trey plays hockey out of state six months of the year, and traditional public school made balancing education and his hockey pursuits challenging, according to parent and Learning Coach Jaime. Online school allows Trey the flexibility to practice and work out during the day, while working on school work before, during, and after. ๐Ÿ’

"Our son felt relieved that he has the freedom pursue his hockey and not be stressed out with the typical school day, missing school days for games and/or having the option to work ahead to cover any time that he might miss," Jaime said. ๐Ÿ’œ

Online school has also helped Trey be accountable and responsible for managing his time and assignments, Jaime added. โœ…
