CTY alumna and former resident assistant Anna Jones '07-'10 attended CTY Roger Williams site for four summers. Jones says CTY made a huge impact on her life both professionally and personally. Taking a CTY psychology course sparked her interest in the subject and ultimately led her to choose it as her college major and pursue a career as a counselor.
Now a school counselor, her role involves supporting students through individual counseling, whole-group and small-group lessons, parent and teacher collaboration and working with local mental health professionals. Jones shares this piece of advice for bright learners: "I would encourage any young learner to take multiple CTY courses to figure out where their passions lie. Explore as much as you can before settling—whether that be through CTY courses, traveling, study abroad, or other ventures. Not only will this help you determine what you really want to do, it’ll make you a well-rounded candidate in any career field (and hopefully introduce you to some wonderful friends and mentors along the way—it did for me!)"
