This painting was inspired by the beautiful hills of Ireland alongside a long stretch of beach. The water came in shallow waves perfect for the Irish lasses strolling through.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This 24" x 12" Oil painting was inspired by the gorgeous Irish coast, painted after we returned from visiting in June 2018.
I love Irish Blessings,
May the face of every good news
And the back of every bad news

Marlys Greenhalgh:
I am a painter and a printmaker. Prickly Pear Studio is located in the inspiring Baraboo Hills. Inspiration is vital for art to flourish, mine includes landscapes, flora, fauna and figures often observed and painted ‘en plein air’. My perennial gardens are a source of inspiration. I collect cacti, banana trees, jade and other plants that inspire. Travel to places near and far contributes to my story.
Originally from western Pennsylvania, I lived in Los Angeles, California before moving to Sauk County, Wisconsin. I have produced and promoted the Arts all my life as a working artist and Art Educator. I am a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and Viterbo University.
A featured artist on the annual Fall Art Tour, I demonstrate woodcut printmaking and oil painting techniques each October at Prickly Pear Studio.
Framed and unframed woodcut prints and oil paintings now available at
Art On Oak at 612 Oak Street, Downtown Baraboo.
Meet Sandra Christensen:
"I have been making and creating jewelry for about 15 years. I am self-taught except a metals class I took many years ago. I like to dabble in many techniques, everything from beading, wirework, metalwork, soldering and hand stamping. My latest obsession is mixing metals. Most of my pieces are one-of-a-kind designs."
Meet Dorothy Fitzgerald:
She is a retired Art Educator which gives her time to concentrate on her pottery. She creates with clay and often takes workshops while traveling. She focuses on handbuilding techniques and is inspired by tropical color.
Barb Sjoblom is an artist from a rural Milwaukee area who relocated to Portage in 1976 after falling in love with the beautiful countryside and friendly locals .
Using these surrounding landscapes she draws inspiration from being in nature and observing the wildlife. Although she prefers to work mostly with oils ,she also experiments with acrylic and colored pencils from time to time.
Not to mention, after being diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, she has only used this challenge as a life lesson on how to further enjoy each day. The relaxation and purpose that creating art brings her is priceless gift she will always be grateful for.
ART ON OAK open today 11:00 -4:00. Marlys Greenhalgh will be there working on a new Woodcut. Grab a latte at Coffee Bean and stop by! 🎃
Now at Art On Oak, artist Karen Loper creates her work from recycled materials. Her 2-D Landscapes are created with recycled adhesive materials that contain words, numbers and other shapes to make intricate, creative designs.
Introducing Jeff Martinson, potter:
"The bottle shape is my favorite ceramic form. I make mostly bottles, vases, and sculptural pieces. Lately I've been experimenting with textured surfaces. I strive to refine my aesthetic eye and reflect that in my work."

Introducing Greg Hollenback, a woodworker represented at Art On Oak.
Greg's Artist Statement:
I had never thought of myself as an artist. I have been woodworking off and on for many years. I had a plan, and I would follow it. It wasn’t until I started to turn wood on a lathe in 2013 that I did not have a plan to follow. At first, I would try to make the “perfect” bowl, but as I’d get into the hunk of wood, different shapes and forms started to emerge. As I’ve gotten more accustomed to dealing with more challenging wood blanks, I’m able to use the unique shapes and “defects” of the wood to make the form that emerges. Now, when I search the woods for fallen trees or when people bring me a burl to work with, I take a lot of time to try to see what parts of the piece of wood would make something interesting and unique.
Connie Ballweg is a Stained Glass and Mosaic Artist
Introducing one of the Artists showing art at Art On Oak Gallery.
Connie Ballweg:
"I work with glass making Stained Glass Art and Mosaic Garden Stones. I have always loved stained glass, but really got into it when I retired and my daughter gave me a stained glass class for a Christmas present about nine years ago. I loved it!
About five years ago I took a class on making Mosaic garden stones (a good way to use up leftover glass) to put in my gardens.
I get inspiration from what I see in nature, like birds, flowers, bees, dragonflies, butterflies, to add a pop of color. Every piece is unique, no two are alike."
