For those interested in a vocal competition, the NATS Southern Region Student Auditions will be hosted at Mississippi College this year November 7-9. More details to follow as they become available.

We are THRILLED to announce our first Holiday Recital (party to follow) at Trinity Episcopal from 6-8pm on Wednesday, December 18. This event is open to the public, so please join us for a wonderful evening of holiday songs and more!

It’s time to reveal the behind the scenes of keeping the studio running.

Where exactly does your tuition money go?

It takes a lot to run a small business. The cost alone to have a commercial space is HUGE. From rent, utilities, maintenance, and insurance, not to mention registering the business in Louisiana, it’s a large undertaking to say the least.

Keeping up with a registered website, professional email, local phone number, and using an automated scheduler for payments also takes time and money.

That doesn’t even begin to cover what we offer our students and teachers throughout the year!

Did you know one piece of purchased sheet music can cost at its lowest $5? And if it’s needed in an entirely different key OR an obscure song, it can be up to $15?!? So, for example, when a student or teacher asks for a song from the musical ‘Ride the Cyclone’, you better believe we are buying and distributing it legally from the composers website.

Finally, the quality of lesson comes down to the teacher. We pay competitive wages, and offer memberships, professional development, and training opportunities throughout the year, to make sure teachers are up to date in all things voice related.

Furthermore, Phyllis is part of a voice studio oriented business organization, which gives regular access to a business coach and among things, helped her create and maintain the studio policy and tuition model.

When the first lesson was taught 13 years ago in a small living room in Rhode Island, the studio never imagined to become what it is today. But we are better for it, and thankful to have you along for the ride.
