This Sunday we had a beautiful performance presented by LMTA Piano Ensemble Festival and CPI members. It was especially memorable since teachers have been planning this for 1.5 years. This event allowed young students to experience the thrill of ensemble playing while learning to follow a conductor and gaining valuable audition, rehearsal, and concert experience. Additionally, CPI participants were conducting the groups, expanding their skills beyond playing collaborative music on their instruments.

We were so delighted to have Paul Kantor to give a masterclass this evening to our wonderful CSI participants. Touching on topics of tempo relationships, phrase structure, attentiveness to the score and overall pacing, his pedagogical skill, generosity, and warm nature allowed students to flourish and learn a wealth of knowledge today. So grateful for him — and wonderful job to the performers!

A phrase to remember this evening: “small phrase, small musician”.

Our Story

The Collaborative Piano Institute is created by and for collaborative pianists!

We created a summer program in which they get all the attention, and an experience tailored to their goals. Our main goal is to prepare them for the next step in your life as a collaborator: graduate school or professional auditions, making pre-screening recordings, job search, as well as in-depth classes on many topics such as diction, coaching, performing, rehearsing, and much more!

The Festival begins on June 3rd and ends on June 23rd. In weeks 2 and 3 we are lucky to partner with Bravo! at Shattuck-St. Mary's, a summer festival for String Players. You will have high quality partners, as well as professional singers that will perform with you in recitals and masterclasses. You will have chamber music coachings from the Bravo Shattuck faculty as well.
