Our mission is to feed people experiencing hunger in Baton Rouge & surroundings parishes. When it comes to senior hunger, Louisiana is third in the nation.
Did you know that 1 in 7 people experience food insecurity in Louisiana? Louisiana leads the nation in childhood hunger too, with 1 in 5 children being food insecure. The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank has been working to reduce these statistics since 1984. Clean out your freezer and support your community! This Sunday, from 1-4 PM locations in the Greater Baton Rouge area will accept frozen goods to donate to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Any properly packaged, labeled, and dated game, fish, or other protein are accepted.

Our volunteers play a vital role in providing food to our community, and we're incredibly thankful for corporate partners like ExxonMobil Baton Rouge who donate their time to support us. Recently, a group of Exxon interns spent the afternoon in our Sort and Repack room, packing boxes to give back to their community.

Yesterday afternoon LSU Football gave back to their community by volunteering at the Food Bank! The team packed 15,000 pounds of food that will be distributed in the Greater Baton Rouge area. Geaux Tigers!

Meet Stella Robinson! Over 17 years ago, Stella began working for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as a driver. Today, Stella serves as our Transportation Manager, managing a fleet of vehicles and a team of seven drivers who are essential to our mission to feed the hungry in our 11-parish service area.

This week, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana spent a morning volunteering in our Sort and Repack room, weighing okra that we received from the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA)! This program allows us to provide healthy, culturally relevant food to those in our service area while expanding economic opportunity for our local and underserved producers.

For years, Associated Grocers has been a major supporter of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, donating millions of pounds of food to feed our neighbors in need. AG, a Baton Rouge company with over 200 independent retail members in three states, receives Food Bank trucks every week and fills them up with dairy, fresh produce, shelf-stable goods, and many other items so we can continue to support the agencies we partner with.

Meet Wendy Parrish! She began volunteering at the Food Bank after another volunteer leader, Bus Culotta, invited her. She quickly took a liking to the work she was doing here and has now been volunteering for 4 years! Volunteering at the Food Bank allows Wendy to stay busy and burn energy while helping people in her community.

Meet Kyra Muse, our Nutrition Services Manager!
Kyra started working at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as the Nutrition Services Coordinator in August of 2021 after graduating from college and in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Today, Kyra serves as the Nutrition Services Manager, managing all nutrition-related programs and logistics for the “Food is Medicine” program.

Meet KiEtha Gage, our Senior Agency Relations and Programs Manager!
KiEtha began working for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank in 2013 as the Outreach Coordinator, focusing on SNAP outreach. She then became responsible for managing the BackPack Program, Senior Grocery Program, and Mobile Pantry Program as the Program Coordinator. Today, KiEtha oversees the expansion of these programs and the establishment of new programs to meet the needs of our community.

Thank you Rocco's Pizza & Cantina for giving LSU Baseball fans the opportunity to participate and give back to their community! The donations that we received show how dedicated and passionate the fans are. Thank you to everyone that donated! True to form the fans put their money where their mouth is. They managed to raise $9289 for the despite not making it to Omaha this year. We know from experience how generous these fans can be and salute them for showing it once again.
Meet Pat Lovell! Pat has been volunteering at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for the past three years. As a financial donor, Pat came to take a tour of the Food Bank and immediately knew he wanted to be further involved in our operations. His favorite part of volunteering is crushing boxes and the exceptional people he gets to work with.

Jordyn started working at the Food Bank as our Nutrition Services Manager, where she quickly made her mark by establishing and growing our nutrition programs. Today, she serves as the Vice President of Impact, where she oversees all client-facing programs, including after-school and summer feeding programs, the Backpack Program, mobile distributions, "Food is Medicine," and our partnerships with our agencies.
