Valero Corporate Rescue School 2024 is complete!

Our outstanding instructors showcased extraordinary teamwork throughout the previous week while instructing our largest Corporate Rescue School to date for Valero Energy. Their efforts allowed us to successfully conduct a comprehensive fifty-hour Rope Rescue and Confined Space Operations Course simultaneously with the Valero Corporate Rescue School on board the USS Lexington Museum.

On behalf of RNR Rescue, we would like to express our deep appreciation to all the Valero teams for their wholehearted participation.

RNR Rescue is pleased to announce that Jordan Miller is our new Industrial Rescue Team Project Coordinator!

Jordan has a rich rescue history, from his tenure as a firefighter with Ouachita Parish Fire and as an IRT Team Lead for the past two years. We are incredibly excited for him to join us in his new position, coordinating our IRT personnel and being our clients' contact for all IRT and safety services needs going forward.

Jordan is a great addition to our team and we look forward to bringing RNR’s rescue and safety services to new levels!

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a long-time client from Billings, Montana, in Wilmington, NC. The students spent three days aboard the USS North Carolina. Our Director of Curriculum and Personnel Development, Marc DiBiase evaluated their efficiency and effectiveness in responding to confined space emergencies.

Nick started with RNR eight years ago. A former firefighter in East Baton Rouge, Nick came to us as our very first full-time employee during RNR Rescue’s infancy. He had worn many hats while he has been employed with us, but currently serves as our Director of Business Development and oversees our Industrial Rescue Teams (IRT). We appreciate Nick for all that he does for RNR Rescue!

Harnesses are crucial in preventing falls from heights and ensuring safety in confined spaces. Regular inspections are essential before and after each use, with an additional recommendation for an annual inspection by a qualified individual. Here are vital steps to follow when conducting a thorough harness inspection:

🔴Please review the product history to understand its usage and any relevant incidents.
🔴inspect the tag for the serial number and manufacture date, providing crucial information about the harness.
🔴Examine the condition of the straps for signs of wear, UV exposure, and chemical damage. Pay attention to loose, worn, or cut threads, noting that the stitching may differ in color from the webbing.
🔴Scrutinize attachment points for any deformities, cracks, or corrosion that may compromise the harness's integrity.
🔴Inspect adjustment buckles to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
🔴Check the condition of harness padding, prioritizing comfort and effectiveness during use.
🔴If applicable, inspect the chest ascender carefully to guarantee proper functioning.

We are pleased to have our instructors Brandon Powers and DJ Walker presenting at then 2024 LIFT Conference.

Brandon is a lead instructor for RNR and spent 15 years as a professional firefighter in Tennessee. He currently is a captain with Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service, an organization that provides cave/cliff/technical rescue as well as ALS medical services to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County/Tri-state area. Brandon holds a Level 3 Rope Access Technician with SPRAT and IRATA and is also a certified instructor.

DJ is currently in Special Operations as a Captain with the Austin Fire Department. He oversees curriculum development for rope, confined space, swift water and tower rescue as well as helicopter operations for R.E.S.E.T., the regional training organization. He holds a SPRAT Level 3 Rope Access Technician and also stands as the South-Central Regional Coordinator and instructor for the National Cave Rescue Commission.

RNR has landed in St. Louis! We are pleased to be able to attend this year’s International Technical Rescue Symposium.
