What is Homestead Exemption?
It potentially reduces the amount of property taxes owed on the property.
Steps on how to apply:
1. Download the application form from your county’s appraisal district’s website. It’s free to apply! You must occupy the property by January 1, 2023 to apply.
2. Complete the form and attach copies of your Driver’s License (It must have matching address)
3. Return the form to the appraisal district by April 30.
4. The homestead exemption will remain in place as long ad the owners occupy the property. If home is sold, or no longer occupied, they should request removal of the exemption.
