Dr. Taunton graduated from Auburn University with honors. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine for medical school and orthopedic residency training.
During his residency, he researched hip and knee implants and developed a strong interest in joint replacement surgery. Subsequently, he obtained additional joint replacement training through his fellowship at the prestigious Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Taunton has been a member of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society and is currently a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is also a diplomat of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Taunton sub-specializes in revision joint replacement and primary joint replacement of the hip and knee.
