💚 Thank you so much to everyone that came out yesterday to our first ever ‘COLONIAL PICKLE FEST’

🥒 Our residents and visitors enjoyed trying all types of pickle flavored things such as pickle flavored jelly beans, bread and butter pickle cupcakes, pickle kettle cooked chips, kool-aid soaked pickles, pickle ketchup, pickled vegetables, pickle lemonade and so much more!

🥒 Thank you to Sadie, our local Ombudsman, for coming and talking with our residents, as well!

🍦🍨 On Tuesday, our Life Stories Neighborhood crossed The Igloo Soft Freeze off of their ‘Summer ice cream bucket list adventure’!! With only 4 stops left and only 3 Tuesdays left before the first day of Fall, we will be making 2 stops in one day for sure!! We are on a mission to finish this adventure in full before the last day of Summer!!!

It has been a crazy past two days, with multiple trips to Mike's Place for breakfast and lunch!! Our residents enjoyed a variety of food from liver-and-onions to peanut butter stuffed french toast! Thank you so much to the staff at Mike’s Place for being so accommodating and helpful during these visits!!

🇵🇭 If you’ve ever visited our community, you have probably gotten the pleasure of meeting our team member, Catherine, who is part of our kitchen crew, but, you may not have known that Catherine is from the Philippines and wanted to share her heritage with our residents! Catherine and our Executive Chef, Georgie, were hard at work cooking our residents an authentic Filipino inspired meal!

Our residents got to try a choice of either chicken adobo or sweet soy pork, with black beans, jasmine rice, fresh mango juice, sweet soy potatoes,and, for desert, a traditional Filipino desert that consisted of shaved coconut, shaved ice, chocolate ice cream, black raspberry ice cream, topped with condensed milk!

These were all new flavors and tastes for some of our residents, and they were very impressed by the flavor and diversity of the plate!!! 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

💙 Yesterday, we took a short drive to the square in Bedford to celebrate National Senior Citizen’s Day at The Bedford Farmer’s Market! Our residents received a book that contained $10 in vouchers to spend at the market!! They spent it on various fruits, veggies, cookies, honey, lavender, flowers, and lemonade!! As it said on the coupons, being a senior is 💙💐🍪

🍦 Yesterday, some of our LifeStories residents took a trip on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and headed to Somerset, PA, to cross off another stop on their summer ice cream bucket list! They stopped at Molly's Ice Cream and enjoyed banana splits, chocolate ice cream, and strawberry sundaes!

🍦 In case you haven't been following along, our LifeStories Neighborhood has been traveling this summer to the most popular ice cream stands within 30 miles of our community. We only have five more stops until our list is complete!!!

We’ve recently celebrated an incredible accomplishment of our Wellness Teams. For the second quarter of 2024, our Wellness Team had a remarkable call-bell response time of 3.0 minutes, with a 91% success rate.

Meaning, 91% of the time, our staff answered our residents calls for assistance in under three minutes. This not only provides reassurance to our residents, but to their families, as well. It shows how dedicated our team is towards quality, reliable care, in a timely manner.

Our CEO, Larry, joined our Resident Wellness Director, Jordan, and Executive Operations Officer, Brandy, in celebrating our team’s accomplishment! We’re all so proud of our team and this achievement!!!

☕️ We were so excited that our community got to host The Boujee Bean for our residents and staff, as well as for members of the public, to enjoy!

🪩 How cool is it that they even came up with a special drink menu that corresponds with each member of our leadership team?!

🪅🍫 Today, our LifeStages activity crew, Tyler and Nancy, turned themselves into HUMAN PIÑATAS for our residents to play a brand new game and give them the chance to win some SWEET TREATS!!!!

Our LifeStories Neighborhood crossed off another stop on their ‘Summer Ice Cream Bucket List’. Yesterday, they stopped at The Penguin Ice Cream and enjoyed the flavor of the week, blueberry!!! 🫐

Today, our Activities Director, Tyler, and one of our Resident Service Specialists, Marissa, took a group of residents on an hour and a half drive to “Steelers Training Camp” at St. Vincent College!!! We enjoyed seeing the 2024 players up close and in person! We got to see the team run plays, and even got some autographs!!!

✅ Today, we marked off another stop on our ‘LifeStories summer ice cream bucket list’!!!

Today, we took a trip close to home just down the road, in town to Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard inside of Bedford Candies - Bedford!!! All of our residents that attended the trip have never tried a ‘gelati’ before, so, this was their first time, and they loved it!!!

Today, our Activities Director, Tyler, teamed up with our EGG-xecutive Chef, Georgie, to present our residents with ‘eggs your way’, right at their breakfast table! They got to pick what type of eggs they want…THEIR WAY! They got the choice of: dippy, fried, an omelet, poached, or scrambled eggs!

To celebrate ‘National Friendship Day’, some of our Senior Living residents took a trip to get ice cream and spend some time together, as a group of friends!!!

Today, we took an hour long trip on Route 30 to the Coal Miner's Diner & Dutch Crumbs. We heard it was so good, that we had to try it out!! We were so excited when we got there and we found out that they were filming an episode of America's Best Restaurants!!!

🎨☄️ Hand-eye coordination exercises not only improve motor skills, but also enhance cognitive function. They can help boost memory and focus; enhancing ‘seniors’ overall quality of life!

Today, our LifeStories Neighborhood took hand-eye coordination exercising to a whole different level by taking aim at our LifeStories Director, Tyler, with environmentally friendly, washable paintballs!!!

Whether you’re 97 years old, on oxygen, using a wheelchair, on hospice, or never attend activities, everyone gets in thr tube and is so excited and comes out for WATER SLIDE DAY!!! 💦🛝

💙 This is our second year hosting our ‘senior slip and slide’ event for our residents and any visitors that want to attend! We set up a 90 foot long slip-n-slide, add water, lots of soap, and pull our residents down super fast! This year, we added even more water fun by including water balloon fights!!!

💙 Thank you so much to all of our team members that helped with this amazing event and all of our visitors that came to watch as well!!

🚨‼️We might have rolled up the slip-n-slide for this year, BUT….. if this looks like fun… BE THERE NEXT YEAR!!

🐣 Our residents earned their ‘playing with chickens’ badge for our ‘Elder Scouts’ program!

🐥 DID YOU KNOW?! Our ASD, Cassi, owns a chicken business?! She brought some of her chicks in and taught our residents what’s it like living with chickens, how/when they lay their eggs, and of course… let our residents hug and play with them!!

🦖🏴‍☠️💎 Our LifeStories Neighborhood had an exciting day learning about different types of fossils, dinosaurs, buried treasure, and gemstones! After our learning session, we headed out to the patio to dig our own fossils! 🦖🏴‍☠️💎

Today, some of our senior living residents woke up bright and early to take a trip to Martinsburg, PA, to visit Mamie's Cafe and Bakery for breakfast! ☕️🍳🥞

We got to try things that we have never had for breakfast before; with things like pancake flights, sticky bun french toast, Oreo pancakes, and even a breakfast “mess”!!! Of course, we had to take some fresh glazed doughnuts back for some of our favorite people at the Courtyard!!!

🔥🪵 Today, we celebrated ‘National Graham Cracker Day’ with the messiest treat around, S’MORES!!!
