As most know, I’m a nose and sinus otaku (Japanese, meaning: geek, nerd, enthusiast). I came to natural medicine via my respiratory system and cured my own chronic asthma and sinus problems by going hard after inflammation. This included a deep understanding of how intranasal biofilms destroy nose and sinus health. And so, the “superhero” origin story of Sinus Ninja.

We are not only sickened by allowing biofilms to have their way with our gut and respiratory epithelia but also by light pollution (blue light from our devices at night), by basting ourselves in insulin (eating the wrong foods and eating too frequently), and by starving our gut biome (we’re fiber and fermented foods famished).

COVID-19 antibody (quick) testing is here. Unfortunately as of the time of this update, a NEGATIVE test does NOT mean you can go back to work or visit grandma. Testing is being ‘fast tracked’ by circumventing rigorous FDA standards of approval. And, false negatives are being widely reported.

“What we don’t want are wildly inaccurate tests. That’s going to be much worse, having wildly inaccurate tests than having no test.” (Dr. Stephen Hahn, FDA Commissioner, Meet The Press 04.12.20). Here’s what I can tell you about how to interpret antibody testing results as of this update:

negative/asymptomatic=inconclusive

negative/symptomatic=possible COVID-19, 14 day self-quarantine advisable

positive/asymptomatic=probable previous exposure, or presymptomatic, 14 day self-quarantine advisable

positive/symptomatic=probable COVID-19, self-quarantine advisable until symptoms completely resolve

Given these clinically rational interpretations, negative/asymptomatic has the most potential for harm.

We as community physicians HAVE to tell our patients, "a negative result is inconclusive." It DOESN’T mean it’s OK to go back to work or visit grandma. Also, even if the negative result is valid, negative once doesn’t mean negative for life. If you leave your home and significantly re-expose yourself, it’s time to get tested again.
