How do you tap into your inner wisdom and โshow upโ in class? Weโve rounded up our top 3 ways to do the work:
โ Before you get in the studio or start an online workout, ask yourself why youโre doing it.
Need time to yourself? Are your muscles telling you theyโre craving movement? Wanting to connect with your community? The reasons are endlessโand theyโre all valid. Your reason is your own, and that is enough.
โ Be mindful of sensations in your body.
When your mind starts to wander, try to bring awareness to parts of your body that are talking to you. Label the feelings. โMy glutes are on fire.โ โMy right hamstring is tighter than my left.โ โMy breathing is shallowโletโs try a few deep breaths.โ This is a judgement-free zone. Donโt judge your experience, but notice and label it.
โ Remember, youโre surrounded by a community that has also decided to show up. Keep the focus on your experience in class, but share a smile with those that have showed up with you.
Recent studies have shown that exercising in groups can benefit you more than a solitary sweat sesh. Why not maximize the camaraderie and acknowledge the shared experience? Yes, everyone takes their own journey through class, but we are all in this together.

Celebrating Noelle Thomas as she wraps up her time after last 6 years. Sheโs actually been a part of our family longer than that! Her mom, Erin was one of our first clients 14 years ago and Noelle would come to barre3 play lounge while her mom took classes. Fast forward years later, Noelle worked in play lounge, then as an Operations Coordinator and then became an instructor, all while attending college at UW. Sheโs now moving to NYC for her Masters in Bioethics as the next part of her journey into medicine. โฃ๐ฉบ

Stacie Thomasโ journey began in 2014 when she stepped into The Barre Code Lakeview in Chicago as a client. Instantly captivated by the practice, she decided to take a chance and audition to become an instructor.

the barre3 class
barre3 offers both a 60-minute and 45-minute signature workout that mixes strength conditioning, cardio, flexibility and mindfulness. Our instructors guide you through a warm up; a leg sequence (quads and inner and outer thighs); strength training of arms and upper back; a cardio burst; dynamic stretch; and a core workout of abdominal and seat muscles (e.g., glutes, hamstrings and side seat). These movements will tone and lengthen all major muscle groups, rev your heart rate and strengthen and balance your body. Class wraps up with a mindful stretch, breath, flow experience that will leave you feeling empowered from within. Props provided include the barre, weights, ball, mat, resistance band and sliders.
