Deputy Kenny Gallón with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department was shot in the line of duty. He recently graduated from PT and today he underwent neck surgery. We are so glad to hear that everything went as planned and he’s well on his way to recovery!

We are thrilled to spotlight one of our orthopaedice surgeons, Dr. David Berken! 🎉

Dr. Berken has been an invaluable member of the Highland Clinic family since his onboarding in 2020, bringing his expertise in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery. Trained under the esteemed Dr. William McGarvey during his fellowship at UT-Houston, Dr. Berken's dedication to his craft is unmatched. From total ankle replacement to sports injuries, he's made quite an impact in our community!

Dr. Berken's journey to orthopaedics is just as remarkable as his medical achievements. From growing up on a rice farm in Louisiana to excelling on the football field at Rice University, his determination has always been evident. Now, settled in Shreveport with his wife, Karen (an OBGYN in Bossier City) and their two children, he finds joy in pursuits like hunting and carpentry.

Join us in celebrating Dr. Berken's continued excellence in healthcare! 👏👨‍⚕️

🌟Meet our Physical Therapist, Jake Conly!🌟

Jake was involved in a car accident resulting in a broken leg and underwent physical therapy. During this time, he realized his desire to help others the way that his therapists helped him. He aspired to promote hope within his patients during a time of vulnerability and low point in their lives. This experience led Jake to pursue a career in physical therapy.

After attending Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana and earning a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, he went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge.

Jake has been a practicing Physical Therapist for 3 years and has gained extensive knowledge in sports rehab, low back pain, vestibular rehab, neurological impairments, and generalized orthopedic issues.

When he is not treating patients, he enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting, and attending CrossFit. Jake and his beautiful wife, Kaylee, have one precious daughter, Maggie.
