Renew Communities
Renew Communities is a missional church in Berea, Ohio that started in the spring of 2011. Worship isn’t the finish line – it drives us into action.
We believe that only Jesus brings hope, salvation, purpose and renewal so we focus all of our movement toward encountering Jesus. God calls each of us to live as missionaries but He’ll call us all in different ways – we embrace and encourage innovative movement in the places where you live, work & play. We gather, celebrate what God is doing and what He’s calling us to do and then we go back to wh
At Renew Young Adults, we’re dedicated to supporting young adults as they navigate this unique stage of life. Everything we do is rooted in the broader community of Renew Communities, where young adults can find countless opportunities to belong, grow, and play a significant role in our shared mission.
Join us on Sunday, September 8th, at 1:15 for lunch and time to learn more about what we have planned for this exciting ministry!

“There’s a way to participate in Christian activities & never really know or be known by Christ. Jesus wants a personal relationship with you now. He’s not looking for someone to do his chores or behave appropriately. He’s looking for someone who will give their life to Him, chase after Him wholeheartedly, and build their entire life on Him. Do you really know Jesus? Have you given your life to Him?”
You can’t deny that LegacyCon was the best place to be last night!
Imagine a people unwilling to condemn, who look inward before they cast judgment. People who use the generosity and kindness they receive to fuel their engagement with those around them.
Now imagine God putting those people in the middle of society, living on mission together, and engaging with anyone and everyone in love and kindness.
Imagine how bright that light could be.
“The antidote for worry is not working hard. The antidote for worry is knowing a good Father. Your Father knows what you need, and you are much more valuable than anything else in creation.”
“Our eternal perspective affects our earthly priorities. Jesus calls it living for My Name’s sake. It’s a way of existing in this world as if the reality of heaven has touched down here on earth within Jesus. It means that true happiness and fulfillment don’t come from material possessions or worldly success but from a deep connection to God and each other.”
“When Jesus is the prize, when Jesus is the goal, not money, fame, success, status, good deeds, or people’s approval; when Jesus is the prize, our motives are based around honoring and following Him.”
We were very grateful to have Brian Metzer with us this past Sunday, teaching us about loving our enemies and forgiveness, urging us to rethink societal norms and embrace the peaceable Kingdom.
“We have been called a new humanity, a contrast community. But we are not Democrats or Republicans. We are Jesus’ people, a new humanity. There’s a desperate need for recovery of our distinctiveness, not in self-righteous piety but in selflessness and enemy love.”
Be reconciled. Make friends.
This is what God does for us through Jesus – so this is what the people of God do, too.
What an amazing Sunday celebrating eight baptisms at Renew.
We kicked off our summer in the Sermon of Mount with Kevin Kowalski, our church planting resident teaching through The Beatitudes.
In a world where darkness seems to surround us—whether through political tensions, economic challenges, or relational divisions—many wonder how to respond. Jesus declared, “I am the light of the world,” a light that darkness cannot overcome. But here’s the intriguing part: He also told His followers that they are the light of the world.
Throughout the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus provides practical guidance on living as light in a dark world. From love and marriage to relationships, business, anxiety, and the future, He illuminates what light truly looks like.
Let’s discover together what it means to be a beacon of hope and love as we dive into this summer-long series on the Sermon on the Mount.
“Our stories should reflect the hope we have in Jesus. When people ask why we live the way we do, we can share how Jesus has changed our lives and brought us hope.
So, as we go out into our neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools, remember that we are ambassadors for Christ. Our stories have the power to change lives and bring hope to those around us.”
“The table makes a statement about who’s truly welcome.
The table reminds us of our common needs.
The table forces us to listen to each other.
Transformation happens when Jesus is present at the table.”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing women in our lives.
God has a mission for you. Most often, we think this may mean going someplace far away or doing something extraordinary, but the truth is God’s mission is intended to integrate into your everyday life.
We know that summer often provides additional opportunities to intersect with those living life around us, so we’ll spend the month of May talking about how we can increase our missional awareness of where we live, work, learn, and play. Join us tomorrow as we talk about strategies for missional living.
Prayer and fasting aren’t just spiritual rhythms— they transform our daily moments into an awareness of where and how God wants to use us.
“The only way to experience greater things is by stepping aside and allowing God to work in and through us. We need to rely on His power and not our own. Consecration requires us to give up our ordinary and make room for God’s extraordinary work in our lives. It’s about surrendering our desires and plans to Him.”
We were so grateful to have Kelly Ball with us for the Renew Women’s Retreat and our Sunday morning gatherings over the weekend.
Sunday was a full day at 388 W Bagley. Two worship gatherings with a visit from Frank Yang of UB Global. We capped the day off with our Family Discipleship Night led by our Renew Kids and Youth team.
Today was about as good as it gets.
We’re back tomorrow, continuing our series, Greater Things. Join us at 9:30 or 11:15 AM.
Discover simple practices you can implement around your daily routines and seemingly mundane moments that will lead to a lifetime of growing closer to God—both for you and everyone in your home.
Join Family Discipleship Night to learn practical examples of prayers, liturgies, and activities you and your family can practice immediately. Students from kindergarten through high school will also participate in a fun, in-depth Bible lesson. Please register via the link in our bio!
What an incredible Sunday worshiping while kicking off our Greater Things series.
Happy Easter. He is risen!
Good Friday is a time of reflection and lament as we mourn the death of Jesus while anticipating the joy that we know comes with his resurrection. Join us for this special gathering, where we will worship with friends from the churches of the Kingdom Collective at either 5 or 7 PM. Childcare will be provided for preschool and under.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important moment in human history. Through the resurrection, we can have eternal life, but the power of the resurrection isn’t just about eternal life - it’s about this life, too!
Easter reminds us of the promise that, through the power of the Spirit, we can put the deeds of our sinful nature to death and be raised to a full and abundant life in Christ. It challenges us to choose a life led by the Spirit, breaking free from the bonds of our sinful nature and embracing the abundant life promised through the grace of God.
Join us on Easter Sunday as we remember that the same God who rose Christ from the dead is alive and at work in you. Together, we’ll reflect on the freedom we have in Christ, the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, and the profound privilege of being recognized as children of God.
