In the Spring 2024 Semester, Tania Bond, a Junior Education Studies major, was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, a highly selective and prestigious all-discipline honor society. Admission to Phi Kappa Phi is highly competitive, extended solely through invitation to Berea’s top 7.5 percent of juniors and the top 10 percent of seniors.
Additionally, Tania was recognized as a Henry W. and Edna Austin Scholar. The Austin Scholar Awards, funded by former State Senator Henry W. and Mrs. Edna Austin of Oak Park, Illinois, celebrate exceptional academic achievement at Berea College. Being selected as one of four Austin Scholars annually, representing the top 7% academically across the Junior and Senior classes, is a significant honor.
Tania's forthcoming plans include studying Child Psychology in Ireland this Summer, a pursuit funded in part by the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant. This experience will enrich her cross-cultural understanding of students and enhance her teaching methodologies, assisting her on the journey to becoming a star teacher.
