🚨Workshop Announcement🚨

Break Up with your Mega Bank
Date: March 9
Time: 10:30am-12:30pm
Location: Olam Haba/MoHo Berkeley (DM for address)
Link to RSVP in our Bio!

You know when things aren’t working in your relationship and you need a loving reality check from a friend? Well, this is that moment. Megabanks are toxic, it’s time to get out!

If you bank with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Scotiabank, TD, Barclays, Citi, Credit Suisse, JPMorgan Chase or other similar large corporate banks, your money is being invested in extraction and exploitation. These banks fund fossil fuels, weapons manufacturing, factory farms, and the like.

In this workshop, we will:
- Learn how megabanks work and why they fund harmful industries
- Explore more ethical banking structures like credit unions
- Recommend which credit unions/banks you should switch to
- Walk away with a concrete checklist to follow to break up with your bank

Hosted by Bay Area Resource Generation in collaboration with Moishe House Berkeley

Accessibility: ~15 steps to get into the house. We'll be hosting indoors with windows open with air-air filters running. Masks will be optional.

Hi Berkeley MoHo community!! Lucy here, it is with a sadness and excitement for the future that I am announcing my departure from the Berkeley Moishe House. I have had an incredible year leading both fun events and facilitating Jewish rituals. I am off to adventures in Northern California and I will be returning to the East Bay in the fall. I am planning to continue holding spaces for Jewish ritual, Shabbats, and yoga classes. Follow my “professional” account to stay tuned for future events I hold .the.sun ✨🙏 blessings to you all

Registration Form - Service Learning Retreat - 4/28-30 - Urban Adamah 03/18/2023

We’ve got a fun, informative, and important MOHO retreat for y’all!!

What: Jewish Food Justice Retreat
When: April 28-30
Where: Urban Adamah, Berkeley
Who: geared towards folks ages 21-32, but not exclusive
Cost: $50 for whole weekend (room and board included!)

More info and why it matters:
Do you care about food justice and want to learn more about it? Have you ever been on food stamps or knows someone who has?
Moishe House and Repair the World are organizing a weekend long retreat to teach folks about the Farm Bill and land it into the lens and landscape of Jewish tradition and teaching.
This retreat comes at a critical time with the federal Farm Bill is up for renegotiation this year (which only happens every 5 years). The Farm Bill is the piece of legislation that outlines government support for food stamps, nutrition assistance programs, farmer rights, and so much more. The retreat will include time to learn about the bill, participate in advocacy, and also do direct service with a local Bay Area org in the food justice world. The weekend will also include jewish learning time and sweet time at the beautiful Urban Adamah farm.
Reach out to me if you want to apply, or are just curious to hear more about it. I am helping with the onboarding process.
